Taking off today from Orem, UT to San Diego, CA. 3 down, 3 back, roundtrip around 1,500 miles. 150 Gallons of fuel $310. 00. Goodies for the trip $50. New NASCAR hat from the Flying J $20. Home with the wife and kids by Thursday and four days off, PRICELESS. For everything else there's Mastercard.

Damn GS, let me know where you are buying your fuel along I-15, $310 for 150 gallons?? Everywhere I've been lately, it's at least $3. 19 a gallon!! My aux. tank is dry and needs to be filled!

Doh! Make that $451. 50. Best place I found to fill - Fort Hall Indian Reservation, ID (Shoshone Bannock Tribe) Just barely north of Pocatello, $3. 01 per gallon.

GShail have you ever checked out www.carsarrive.com. Looks like an interesting service for car haulers to find loads. It might be a helpful tool for me to get started and developer contacts. Lets you pick the area, number of spots available, etc. Demo login is "demo", pass "3690".

The Smiths at the corner of Decatur and Ann in the NW has #2 for $3. 01 a gallon. Buy $50 of groceries and they will knock off another $. 10/gallon.

Could you guys let me know what you figure in for vehicle maintaince and vehicle replacement? I am creating a spreadsheet to give me an idea as to what I can earn. That way I can play with the numbers and see how things will change.

Just some info that you may already know about, but I have a AAA Visa card that gives me 5% back on all my fuel purchases. As much fuel as you guys go through at these prices, that could add up. Hope this helps.

Stay under 26000 gcvw and lease on and you will have almost no cost to get started. They pay all permits, loaded liability and cargo insurance, and supply the transport tag. Also the dot # is free only if you are running your own stuff, if for hire they is a cost for the dot #. Karl (Good list too)

Nice list Patrick. Will clear up your question on the IFTA. If you are registered/licensed (keyword(s) here since IFTA is under the Department of Revenue) under 26K IFTA is not required, over 26K it is required. If you have a truck (power unit) with 3 axles or more, IFTA is required.

These high torque pickup trucks are great! Too bad the transportation industry wasn't happy enough to rob the big trucks out of house and home alone... ... Now they try to "gig" the pickup owners as well! Just keep telling yourself that the reason your out here is to make a PROFIT. Decide what you need per mile to be profitable and stick to your guns! "If your going to lose money to get back to the house... ... make sure no one benefits"!!!!!!
