how to hop up a Masey 1220 ???

anybody know what i can do to this thing? exhaust? can i tweak the pump? better air filter?



just wondering, i was thinking of either trading it for a bigger one or turning this one up its a 92 BTW.

Todd, leave your MF be if you plan on using it for a tractor rather than a sled puller. Most all tractor engines are tuned for maximum power and efficiency as they come from the factory unlike our Dodges which are detuned so as to get the drivetrain though warranty. About the only tractor mods I've found worthwhile are adding a turbo and intercooler if it doesn't already have them.

A good diesel tractor machanic (32 years in the trade) told me the rule is 17% no more than that. So I would think you could turn the pump up 17% and you should be fine for reliability. As for the MF I'm in the dark on that one, (John Deere guy here) but it should have a Perkins diesel in it and most MF dealers should have some one that knows what to do.
