Sorry for the novice question... . how do I identify whether I have the 18cm or 21 cm (I think that was the other size that came on 1st Gens?) exhaust housing? I have a '92 W250, and what I've read on here the '92's came with the largest exhaust housing... not the best for quick spool-up. However, mine is a fairly early production date of 10/91 so maybe it is the 18cm?

Any stampings or markings on the housing which will let me know?

18 or 21 should be raised letters on the exhaust housing. Might need a mirror and a flashlight to look on the back side.

Yes, casting number will show 18. 5 or 21. Some are on the outside and some are on the inlet inside the ports.

I have a born on date of June 1991. My Window sticker tells me it's a 1992 model year and I have the 21 cm2

Spool-up isn't a problem with an automatic, especially if you'r pushing the fuel through the old VE. With a manual transmission, the engine be dead untill you've hit 2000rpm's or there about.

I love the 21. If you'd like, I'll take it. I have another truck w/auto that could use one.

My 93 manual truck came with a 18. 5cm and my buddies 90 auto truck also has a 18. 5cm (according to him with his mirror). Got a 16cm ported housing on the way for my truck.

My truck is a late 91, and when I had the heater box out I verified it has a 21cm on it. Easy to read from the pass floor board area :-laf .
