How to install Prodigy brake controller?

I have traded trucks and need to put in a brake controller for 5th wheel. Going to buy a Prodigy and try to put it in myself. My 2005 truck came with a wiring harness. How hard is the Prodigy to install myself? How do I do it? If any of you have wired a Prodigy in a late model Dodge truck, how did you do it? Thanks, Dan

The wiring is very easy, the controller will come with the connectors and the harness, all you have to do is put the two harnesses together. I prefer soldering, however the butt connectors provided will work fine. then you just plug in the two ends of the harness... and you are done. mount the controller in a convenient spot in the cab and all is complete. I too have the prodigy love it.

If you don't feel like mating the harnesses yourself, you can always get the Dodge specific wiring harness for the Prodigy and just plug it in.....

Best & easiest is to get the "brand specific" wiring harness which is often included in the Prodogy purchase "deal".

Not expensive if you don't already have it - and it's nicely

wrapped (no loose wires).

With it, you DON'T need the wiring harness Dodge gave you

-or- the "generic" harness that came with the Prodogy.

No matching colors, no crimping, no soldering,

- genuine "Plug & Play"!



Remove lower dash panel (two metal screws at bottom,

pull out at top) and you have access to everything.



Insert plug into mating connector (to far left of steering

column over towards the parking brake - by pack of wires -

pale blue in color).

Plug other end into controller. Done.

It isn't very hard to match up 4 wires and solder them together. I also put shrink wrap over the exposed wire and then zip tied all the wires together every foot or so. I wouldn't use the butt connectors.

And the colors even match (at least they did on mine) from the harness included with the Prodigy and one that came from Dodge. Couldn't be simpler.

What they all said. It took me about 45 minutes to do, and that's only because I'm anal (neat) when it comes to wiring (lot's of attention to detail).



I soldered, (and used heat shrink tubing) too. I have used crimps in the past, but I always seem to lose a connection down the road. .



Easy install.
