How to install Studs....?

I am going to install head studs, but need to know the best way to install them. I am worried if I just use a jam nut to wind them down, I am going to strech them. How are you guys doing it? Some type of installer?

All of the newer head studs have a broached 5mm hex relief on the top for install and removal.

You dont have to bottom tap. But I strongly suggest that you do.



If you have the correct length tap then you dont have to pull the head.

I had my head off so I did my bottom tapping then.

Since I haven't had one of these heads off before, does the need for bottom taping indicate that the bolt holes are blind holes and that the bolts don't protrude into the water jackets?

same way you get the pushrods out... through the two holes in the cowl

actually there is no need to remove the cowl plugs to get the studs in... . if that is the only thing you are doing. The only time you have to remove the plugs is for the pushrods.
