I'd like to know how to take a link to a picture or site and make it one word as I've seen others do so I can place it in my signature. Example: instead of having http://turbodieselregister.com/forums/whatever, I'd like to have the link appear as TDR. Help appreciated - it's probably an elementary thing that I just never learned to do.

When i do it i use the "insert hyperlink" button and the first screen that comes up you enter the text you want it to say for your link, then the next window you enter the link like this ;)

Thanks Mike - any suggestion to help me find the elusive "insert hyperlink button" - sorry I'm a much better mechanic than PC Guru :( I usually need step by step to find the things that are commonplace for most - especially if it's right in front of me DUH! :-laf

The one to click on, looks lika little blue globe, with a number 8 laying on its side, under it to the right of center a tiny bit

I really appreciate you guys trying to help me. I guess I'm missing something still  . What program is this "insert hyperlink" button that looks like a number 8 on it's side? Is the location in MS Internet explorer? or on the actual TDR site? I'm so confused :{ :-laf

Click on the "quick reply" button to get the posting screen, then click on the "GO ADVANCED" just below the window that pops up. The screen changes to a more advanced posting screen. It's in the TDR window; It's the 10th icon from the left above the text box you type into. Click on it, and you type in the text you want to appear for the link.

If you look near the bottom left of the 'Reply to Thread' window, you should see "vB code is On". Click it and read. Then you'll know how to do TDR, among other things.

Oo. Now that's what I'm talking about - thanks guys. It all makes sense now. All I have to do is remember :-laf

or you can remember the url tags. .

use [] brackets instead of () to make examples work

example:

(url=https://www.turbodieselregister.com)link to tdr(/url)

now if you were to use the [] brackets the link would look like > link to tdr
