Rough Running at Start

6.7 needs PCM

I have a cheap Chinese code reader showing P0004. I can't find a match. I've tried using the key method, 3 times from on to run expecting to see something at the odometer. Nothing. How do I obtain codes using the key method? It's a 2008 (lost my signature somehow).

I do get 10 flashes from the MIL.

Do you have a CEL on? Take it by one of the chain auto parts stores, that can read them. BTW, Harbor freight has pretty good code readers for not a lot of money when they are on sale. Even the $50 one has online updates to keep it current. I keep the $100 one to read codes for the neighbors stuff. It reads PCM/ECM and ABS. Some of the more expensive read that plus air bags.

Sag2,

Yes I do have the CEL on (I think the same as what Dodge calls a MIL). Prior to starting, the light is on and remains on after starting. This same light will blink 10 times if I try to get codes using the key method that doesn't seem to work for me. I can clear the CEL with my code reader, but it returns after a few runs or about a hundred miles. It's been years, but I went thru this P0004 thing before. My memory (not worth much) has it related to battery issues (dead, disconnected, loose connection, etc...)

Thanks

From the web:

P0004 is a generic OBD-II code indicating an issue with the engine control module (ECM) not reading signals from your fuel shut-off on your fuel injection rail mounted to your engine.
