2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission How to remove disk brake pad retainers??

I am in the middle of replacing the front pads on a 2001. The pads are held in place by a U shaped metal retainer and a spring. I managed to remove the spring but can't figure out how to remove the retainer clip. The ends are crimped slightly to hold it in place. Do you pry one end back and slide out?
