How to remove?????

HELP:I have road tar/ some sort of asphalt product on my dually fender and on my j&j running boards and I'm just sick. Any ideas on how to remove this mess without damaging the paint. Not to worried about the boards as they are stainless. TIA

i would try some wd-40, oops or maybe 3m adhesive remover

WD 40 then wash area with dish soap (gets rid of all the oil) and re-wax. If you are real retentive, clay bar it afterwards and then re-wax.

I have always used GOOF OFF that seems to work, just don't rub really hard and then when you are done take some wax to the spots you removed the tar. I used the it when I debadged the tailgate and it looks good.

Thanx for the input, I have heard wd40, diesle fuel, splatt and acitone so I have a number of products to try. I'll give results when its over. Thanx to all

You probably have Tack Oil on your truck. I work Highway Construction and it is used to bind two layers of asphalt together. I just got done cleaning my work truck today, it was completly covered in it. I use engine degreaser or Citrisol, it is an industrial type of citris cleaner. Some of the other commercail types of citris cleaner will work also. Kerosine works as well as diesel fuel. The tack oil is petroleum based and usually emulsified with water, so all you need is something to breakdown that bond, which a number of things mentioned above will do and not hurt the clear coat finish on your truck. No worries, just use a cotton cloth so it will not scratch the finish,
