How to tell if 04 or 04.5

Hello, This may sound stupid, but here goes. I just purchased a new Dodge Ram CTD in July, Has the new HO 600 and I was under the impression that it was an 04. 5. All the paper work from the dealer says that it is 04. The door sticker says that it was manufactured in 1/04, how do I know if its an 04 or 04. 5?

Please someone help the new guy.

Any truck with the "600" is an 04. 5

Any truck built after Jan. 1 has the 600 and is an 04. 5.

Just look under it. If there's a catylitic converter... it's on '04. 5.

Even though the 600 came out mid year (2004. 5), it is still considered a 2004 model year truck, thus the confusion.

OK, --- heres one for you----- son works with a guy that bought from Kellogg. Took delivery middle of December They told him it was a 600, (he believes them) this is what he has. No Cat, has section in exhaust 21/2' long for a cat, (By pass pipe?) Sticker says "305" It has a 4" exhaust. Radiator mounted fan shroud. He was told that Cummins had about 400 engines get out of the plant labeled wrong. So he thinks his is a "600".

What do you think??????????????????????

Sounds like a 305/555 to me. Check the build date on the door jamb... if delivery was December, I'll bet the truck was built in November - 600 wouldn't have seen the light of day then.

thats what he told him, but the guy --Just doesn't want to believe it. He swears up and down it's a 600. Just the facts.

I appriciate the help, Look at the engine and it stated that it was built on 1/23/04 and that it has 325 HP. So, definatly happy and love the truck. Thanks to all that helped. This web site is great.
