We have a 93 250 4x4 with 4:10 gears and the trans needs to be rebuilt. Bill will be doing that but we're also looking for better mileage and I may be able to get a set of axles out of a 96. (it depends on the price) I'm sure Bill will want to know what gears it has when he builds it so does anybody know how would the axles work on the 93? I think the rear should be fine, unbolt, unhook the brake lines and hook it back up. But in the front how would things work? I can get the rotors and calipers with the axle so that wouldn't be a problem. How about locking it in 4wd? The new ones are air actuated, so does someone make hubs for it or would it be ok to just hook up the vacume line? (Could do it like the guys do 2wd low) Also the 96 has coil springs and the 93 of course has leaf springs, just have to weld new mounts? Finally the trickiest part for me.
. the steering. How would that hook up? The axles are in a truck that started on fire so I can get anything off of it that I need. The old axles would then go on my 74 ramcharger mud truck since they have the right gears and are plenty heavy duty.
