Thinking of returning to a 2nd gen and buying a 97 5 sp 2500 4x4 xcab. I used to have a 95 same config except the 95 had 4. 10s, this one has 3. 54s. My old truck was a dog, it was stock and a 175 truck, this one has the banks kit, which I guess includes the fuel plate, a 16 cm turbo housing and guages, plus it has a 5" exhaust. I think the injectors are stock. If I take the banks plate out and put 370's and a GSK in it, what plate should I use? I don't need to have the fastest truck in the world, but a couple of my friends have powerstrokes and I need to at least stay in front of them. I'll be towing a 5K# car/trailer on occasion, that's about it. The truck has 170K, should I do just the GSK and leave the stock injectors? I figure w/ the mileage injectors would be a good idea. Are the DV's on a 215 pump OK for what I'm doing? Thanks-Nick

The Banks housing should be a wastegated 14 cm2. The turbo will limit your fueling increases vs. egt. Your rpm is already better than the 95, so try it first before getting a gsk. You could get the #11 plate, but be ready to consider more turbo and a better clutch. The clutch is a good idea anyway, because if the pilot bearing goes out, you will need an input gear etc for the trans.

Sickly, my 97, had 3. 54s and did very well, even when horsepower impaired

If you have a 5 spd, don't get the #11... get the #10. Especially if you're gonna use the gsk kit. The 10 plate doesn't play well with the 11 plate & manua l trans.

I really like my #11 plate. With it full forward I made 328hp & 725 tq on the dyno at IRP last year.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post,I wasn't talking about you but the poster that told you to use the #10.

Listen to Joe,He was in on the developing of many plate profiles and has more dyno time than most anybody here. The 10 will be too hot unless you want to drive with one eye on the pyro or slide it back.

My truck is a 96 with the 5 speed and 3. 54 gears. I installed an AFE intake, MBRP 4" exhaust, #10 plate in stock location and 3gsk gov springs. Going down the road and when the rpms hit 2000, the truck will get up and go. I need to get the boost and pyro gauges installed and will probably be replacing the 137,000 mile clutch. My next mods will be timing, injectors and turbo.
