Smarty 3G software update??

Hello from Dodgetrucksteering.com

How would you change the 3rd gen Smarty?

When Marco finds time, what changes to the initial programming would you like? For me, the smoke while "light footing it" bothers me. Even very gentle acceleration from a stop will produce a pretty heavy gray haze or black smoke even on low settings. That being said, I could care less about smoke under heavy throttle. :-laf Also, driving light footed with Smarty, it makes my transmission shift into 3rd gear by 10mph  = very annoying. If I download stock software back in, or if I floor it with Smarty software installed, it will shift great, so it's not the transmission.

If I could suggest anything, I would like to see the power applied more linear the throttle pedal movement, if that makes sense. I like the low boost fueling, but I wish it wouldn't happen at 1" of thottle movement. I believe this is the main cause of my transmission problem. Other than that I think it's a great product, and it shows alot of promise! Oo.

the only thing I could see to make it better would be more user adjustability, specifically in the features department. like being able to turn on and off cold start, idle settings, and basic things. other than that I love it. the fueling is great, I can drive normal with no smoke

I can't think of much I would want to change. Marco gave us what we asked for. I adjusted the T/V cable on my truck to get the transmission shifting where I want and this will help with smoke. Early shifts lug the motor. I don't realy get that much more smoke with Smarty than before. Smartys sws get the sled puller spining sooner.

I do not have a issue with the smoke I hear some of you talk about. I would like to see the 3cyl idle feature added. other than that I could not ask for more. I also do not have any issues with my trans shifting early.

I have an 02 and really like the Smarty. I have downloaded some of the variations (SW0 no start) when I went on vacation and knew she would be right where I left her (peace of mind). I run on #7 and really like the response. I have zero smoke unless I romp it, and then very little (but I have a KSB1B turbo ie lots of air). I definitely like the response when towing my 13k 5er.

Not sure I would change anything that a variation in a download could not handle.

You have to admit it is an AWSOME piece of programming!

How about like 4x more power :D

After driving a stock truck when the Superchips took a dump on me, then plugging in the Smarty and #9, it ran like a raped ape. I'm used to it now though and it just seems "normal"... need more power! :D

I haven't tried any other settings. #9 is where it's at.

I woudnt change anything great product and love the fuel down low. I could however go for 4x more power like nate said, can never have enough power.

I would agree with the comment about smoke under light pedal. A more linear pedal/acceleration would be nice. It is probably most problematic for us gear jammers since we have boost drop off between shifts. I find that it's hard to gently accelerate without some smoke - the pedal is very touchy.

Outside of that it certainly puts a smile on your face :)

thanks for all the input. Marco is away on vacation. The 1st offering had to cover a wide variety of trucks and drivers.

You know we aim to please and the programs will be tweaked accordingly.

Please bear with us and keep the great flow of information coming.

The cr smarty will be able to please all

Thank you

Smarty

I would like to see low fueling at low boost, possible auto transmission programming. Automatic Turbo timer above a certain temp. And the ability to leave plugged in for Horsepower rating at different RPM's. Hey, I can dream right?

I'd like to be able to program #0 (under s/w version 4), but then be able to "demo" my Smarty. That is, undo the VIN lock on #0 as well as stock.

I'll be taking a long trip in a couple of weeks, leaving the Cummins at home. I plan on demoing my Smarty to another TDR member while I'm gone. I'd like to "disable" my truck, via Smarty, at the same time. (To head off the obvious question: 3 car seats don't fit in the rear of my quad cab).

Heck I would just like to try one. Is that a change

Maybe I will find some money and get one to play with? Then I may have real input to this post.

I'd echo the comment about more linear power - I STILL have a dead spot big time at around 1200-1400 when it goes into lockup. The 'surge/dead spot' fix helped it but it is still there down low. :D

I would like to see fueling starting at 5psi of boost or more , just to keep the smoke down. I would also like to see some way of keeping the transmission from shifting from 1st to 2nd back to first , or what ever it is doing when driving in heavy traffic. Right now if I am on a country road I have no problems , but when I am back in town it is a pain to manuver without somking the cars behind me out.

I think the grand programming would be like this:

Allow you to go onto the website and download from a list of programs that target different truck setups (mods) and issues.

then for maybe a small fee, you can talk directly to marco and have a custom program built just for your smarty. I would be willing to pay for this custom program. Man this would be out of this world !!!!

anti smoke

I very much agree with several others. I have Mach 4 injectors in my 99 and only level 2 (no timing) and 3 (timing) work for me. All higher numbers are way to sensitive and smokey. Forget the cruise control. Levels 2 and 3 are actually too sensitive as well. I normally use level 2 with my edge comp on 1x1 to further reduce smoke.

I would love it if Marco could make us a program with and without timing that is more anti smoke in the earlier stages of the throttle. Assuming it would also be less sensitive this would make for easier driving, better cruise performance and less frowns from the cars behind.

With the Mach 4's I have plenty of throttle sensitivity as it is. Would love the timing benefits of smarty though, and the tire size changability.
