Ive seen video's for sledpullers building boost up before they launch with manual transmissions. How is that. I know how to do it with an auto no problem.

I smoked my clutch a few time's on my old 02HO trying to do a smokey burnout... NOT GOOD. I thought I was smoking my tires once but it was actually my clutch that produced the smoke... . no lie. That was a few years ago, I then bought an 99 auto totalled it and now I have a 6 speed and dont want that to happen again... .

I dont plan on getting crazy with my new 03HO. Since its pretty much pointless with a 6-speed. That's why I got it, self control. Maybe I'll try sleadpulling instead of racing... its safer for sure

Well to do it with a stick you have to have a dual disk clutch or you will burn up your single.

You just run the RPM's WAY UP! and your turbo will start building boost as it get's into the higher rpm's. @ 4500 RPM's my big HX55 I used to have was even making 30psi. But once you start letting out of the clutch and the motor starts getting connected to the drivetrain as long as you didn't pic a gear too high you will boost will go up when you take off down the track.

The sled is the part that helps you build the boost.

It is heavy and you are already in gear.

You bring the rpm's up then start letting out on the clutch being mindful to not kill the engine.

It all happens for me in about 10 seconds or so (the launching part).

You don't want to necessarily build boost.

You want to watch your rpm's (that works for me and alot of other pullers)

and get that sled going, the boost will come.

I never look at the boost gauge. Just tach it out, tighten the chain, give the tires about one revolution and let it rip. Its more a, lighting the charger, than building x # of boost.

Would it be possible to build boost at the drag track????? On my old 02HO I use to rev it to 2200 and dump the clutch  It was VERY hard on my drive train, lots of banging, clanking, clicking... . but I didnt care because I was stock w/ ez under warentee :D :D :D Now I wont be :(

Sleddy you own a driveshaft shop dont you?Or at least stock in one.

Heck, my '94 with an automatic will build 20psi in neutral. (~3300rpm, 5x . 015" EDMs, tiny 131 DVs, no plate, 3k GSK, 16cm² turbine housing, etc... ) I just did it the other day at my GFs house to make a ton of noise/smoke - and to be a jackarse. :-laf
