The only one that has Questioned me is my Mom..... "Why is that so Loud" everytime I go over..... So I play dumb... . (which is easy for me) 'Why is what so loud" "Your Truck" "Oh, why is it loud?"

well, i don't know how you get away with straight-piping in the more rural parts of mass/rhode island... ... i got caught yesterday#@$%! I ran down to my dad's house, replaced the pipe in a half hour (good thing the welding truck was at home) and ran back up to maine. when it happened, I didn't goose it---i was just cruising listening to some music. i had to hit the throttle to get back up to speed though so the cop must have heard me.

In the cities everybody doesn't care... . in the rural parts... I get all sorts of comments: "Is that a tow truck?" "What in the he-- do you plan on towing with that bumper?" "That thing sounds like a bus!" "Do you have a Jake Brake on that thing?" "Why is the turbo so loud?"



My answer is always: "It's all stock... . the previous owner put these gauges in to keep an eye on things when he towed with it... . "

98Rammer, what a bunch of crap. It sounds like you had a cop with a hard-on to be a PITA. Did he measure you with an SPL meter? Hwo far away were you? Did you geta ticket? If you did, I would fight it if I were you. If the cop didn't measure in dba, it would just be his opinion that it was loud. Maybe he has super-dog hearing.

jeff, i'm lucky that i didn't get a ticket so i'll be able to hold on to my license (whew!). It was a cop from Old Orchard Beach, Maine (a tourist attraction on the water where people cruise in the summer). He heard me ways back and followed me. Nope, he didn't measure the sound decible (sp?) level. He gave me a summon for lack of prove of insurance (the insurance company didn't send us the updated cards, but that's taken care of now). He said that he's going to investigate the problem, and call my mom, blah blah blah; but if anything goes any further then we'll go to our lawyer. I'm all set, but it stinks not being able to hear the muffler, wait *exhaust*! i guess i'll just put a flow-through muffler in when i start to do some bombing. Yeah, it's pretty rural up here, except when the tourists take over the streets. The cop was a real jerk to me! He called the exhaust "abnoxious" It sounded like music to my ears Ah well, ya live and learn; just sorry that he must have a stick up...

might i also add that the officer said "next time i see (hear) your truck down here without a muffler, i'm going to have your truck impounded and have it investigated (for fraud)". #ad




btw, it was funny to see some of the confused and scared/shocked faces looking at my truck#ad

Boy or Boy that cop is in for a surprise this coming weekend. Me and Batman are heading to camp at Old Orchard and Yes I'm going to be hauling my 5er with straight exhaustOo. Oo. If he thinks your truck was loud, wait till he sees-hears this thing pulling some weigh This time I might get arrested, you know ******* people off in a volvo and now the cop

I have actually been pulled over for exhaust noise. The cop just wanted to say how nice it sounded, and he was jealous because he had always wanted a CTD.



The only thing I have done is put in the ME kit from Geno's. I am looking into making my own 5" system over the summer. And OH YEAH, STRAIGHT PIPE BABY

if you guys are serious on coming up then i can direct you to the area . i dunno, there's no tourists there right now. he heard me monday and wanted to get me yesterday i guess. i'm sure that when everyone's cruising, they wont pull many people over (due to traffic being backed up). ugh, i guess i gotta get a flow-through muffler next time...

As I was reading this thread... . I could hear Mark shouting out at the top of his lungs all the way down in Derby, CT "And OH YEAH, STRAIGHT PIPE BABY!!!"



That whole bike with loud pipes thing really makes my blood boil as well... . but even they are supposed to be quiet. To the law enforcement crowd... maybe it will be "cool" for CTD's to be loud someday..... just like it's "cool" now for bikes to be loud.
