TravisG - The fan sound is present also, but it is a different sound. The fan clutch will kick in on the highway (or city) with the a/c on at over the 190 mark on the temp. guage. The sound I'm concerned about is not a fan sound, but more like a whining, or howling sound, it happens after the truck warms up, but long before the fan clutch kicks in. It really does sound like the turbo, or maybe driveline whine? I read the TSB posted here, and it seems that these are the symptoms I'm experiencing. I will do the test explained in the bulletin, and if that's not it then I will have to have the turbo checked. Hopefully it's nothing serious! Thanks for the help.
 
The TSB Chris (Stamey) supplied in his link is what I was refering to. I can remember in discussions before that it was kind of hard to believe that this was causing the noise but it was. Easy enough to find out.
