At about 20 to 30 mile per I hear this noise coming from the rear end . I have a 2004 3500 dually auto. Above 30 i don't hear it but when i slow down it come back at 30 and goes away below 20. Just wanting to no if any one has had the same problem

A howling rear end is never a good sign. Take it to your dealer (as long as your still under warranty) and have them check it out. Even if they say nothing is wrong and then something does happen later down the road. You can say that you had it there for a rear end problem and they did nothing about it. Basically take for two reasons... take it in hoping they will fix the problem, or if they dont, at least then you covered your tail and tried to tell them something wasnt right for future problems that may occur.

Does this happen when it's cold or all the time? My 04 2500 4x4 SRW auto has had a similar noise since new, when it's cold but never in the summer and after being driven a mile or so it disappears. I believe it's just one of those weird resonating things because everything else checks out OK. Good Luck

My 2004. 5 dually started howling at simular speeds when cold at 5000 miles. Dealer replaced driveline support bearing and it went away.

well I took it to the dealer got appt. in the morning. Would you belive it didn't do it while there, but started to do it again after it set a little while

My '03 3500 had the same noise -- sort of a soft whining or moaning at low speeds and occasionally at higher speeds -- it came and went. 1st time I took it to the dealer, it wouldn't make the noise. 2nd time I took it, it did. Dealer said the standard fix was to replace the rear driveshaft and U-joints, which they did under warranty. Haven't had the noise again, but it has only been about 4 weeks.

Hi just got back from the dealer he said it was the carrier bearing ,i wonder if that is the same as the driveline bearing, they put it up on the rack and said they could hear it real good, but the parts shop was out and they are back order, will letyou no it that fixes the problem thanks.

well they finally got my drive shaft in and they install it this week and it fix my noise, they just couldn't put a new carrier bearing on so i got a new drive shaft just had to pay 100. 00 .

My 04 had the "hooter" at cold temperatures, usually only in the morning when first driving around. Had both u-joints replaced on the rear drive shaft under warranty - something isn't right with this picture. Other than that it was a great truck.
