Eric,

If you can adjust your TV cable to where your 3rd gear doesn't slip, why do you keep moving it back to the slipping position?

Does it hurt drivability or limit throttle travel or what? I've wired my TV fully rearward for maximum pressure to limp a bad transmission to the shop. Hunting between 2-3 becomes a major problem. Have you seen that?

This is where a simple pressure gauge would really help. We could monitor line pressure when the clutches are slipping versus not slipping. Then we would be able to see if there is an internal problem.

It's easy to hook up a pressure gauge. Directions are available on the internet. Do that and get back to us.

Thanks Chris. I have been playing with it and yes, it limits throttle at an optimum throttle position. There is only one spot in the throttle that it slips from 2-3, and that is very minute. If I have time this weekend I will put a pressure gauge on the lines.

Stakester, I Chris is trying to help me out a little, which I appreciate. Just like an engine, you can throw great mods on it, but it takes experience to tune it in...

Stack'd,

That wasn't directed at anyone. It doesn't matter who's transmission the person has. If they post about how happy they are with it, someone always tries to find something wrong with it. Why?

Good point.

Nitpicker's is right. I am comfortable with posting races and events, maybe some launch techniques and brava zulu's to folks. But knowing that I needed to write an update gave me an absolute headache. The possibility of me contributing to another hate thread sickened me. This site used to be a brotherhood of good ole boys, now it seems to be a city of little gang bangers. The good ole boys are still out there and I see them every year here in Muncie!

I'm a little late getting on here, thanks to trying to take care of business. Eric knows where my shop is :D, if he choses to come down so we can take a look at it. I do have a pressure gauge, and I've been wondering about his line pressure, after talking to him at the grand opening.

From the time his second valve body was installed, until now, both Eric and I have been so consumed by our respective businesses, it's unreal. I'm about to replace a faulty MAP sensor in my own truck this afternoon, something I've had to put off for 2 weeks. Not complaining, that's just how it is.

Stakeman, illflem and Stack'd-n-Jack'd:

All of your posts to this thread are RIGHT ON!!! I could not

agree with you more! This site has definitely changed from

what it once was!!! When a member begins to get "hostile"

P. M. 's or e-mails because of his opinion, something is wrong!

Eric, I for one appreciate your "update" report!! Thanks!!

Hey Eric...

I have a fool-proof method of dealing with the NitPickers...

Now, it's a multi-step process, so listen good ya'll...

Step 1: Open your Right hand with all the fingers and thumb flat out on a plane and spread as far from each other as possible.

Step 2: Carefully bring the hand up to your face and place the thumb on your nose. You want the hand vertical. You should be able to see around the hand, one eye to a side.

Step 3: Draw in a deep Breath.

Step 4: Moisten your tongue and slide it out of your mouth a lil' bit.

Step 5: The complex step. Exhale around your tongue to make a sound reminiscent of Flatulence. Simultaneously, wriggle your four fingers.

This works for NitPickers, Idiots, Jerks and Cocky Import Drivers equally well.

Have Fun and Be Safe.

I'm glad to see some respect for ATS. I've got about 7,500 miles on my complete Stage IV rebuild, and I am still amazed. It is the best thing I've ever done to my truck.

fuel economy

sir I would like to ask you if going to a auto to a 5 speed would net a 3 miles to gallon gain as I have been considering it. My truck gets 19 or a little more but never 20 and a 5 speed might give me 21 or so. What do you think thanks JimK

Bob- I don't think we all should, but I do.

This thread isn't about your transmission, although I'm not shocked that it's doing well, consider the manufacturer.

I believe it's a fault in the RWAL sensor. It's been really hard figuring that one out.

Greg- I don't have a digital camera, sorry.

Chris- thanks for the tip. Hopefully Tom will step in here and answer those questions. They probably told me that, I probably wasn't listening or I forgot :). Understand, I'm not a transmission builder, just a consumer.

Interesting that you say there isn't a fix for the problem. Because when I tighten the TV Cable (on edit, wrong terminology), third gear stops slipping, so am I fixing the symptom or the problem?
