I took a real close look at this today and my front bumper plating job is getting to me. This looks like a cheap chinese aftermarket crash part. The plating is not very clear, and is so thin around the edges and around the fog lamps that I swear it is breaking through and looks as though it has streaks or water marks or something. Is anyone else noticing the same thing? The rear bumper don't look too good either

The warranty list is taking shape. In 1300 Mi I have this quality problem, the clutch pop noise, and the torn door seal.

Chrome bumpers

I haven't noticed any problems with the quality of mine, I well take a closer look at them tomarrow and see how they look. I also give them a good waxing job about three times a month.

Mine was replaced within 30 days of owning the truck because of rust. Since then I destroyed it with a 3 mph bump and replaced it with "Road Armor"!

I noticed the same thing on mine only both front and back. In fact I was looking at them again yesterday afternoon thinking what a crappy chrome job was done. Very very cheap. I figure if it starts to rust its back to the dealer for a replacement. They really need to look at their supplier because ultimitly it could end up costing DC bucks in warrenty claims, not to mention customer dissatisfaction.

The front bumper and rear, for that matter, both have spots that it looks like they "missed" when chroming it by the wheel wells. It looks like they sprayed undercoating on it at first, but upon closer inspection, the chrome plating just isn't there, leaving a black powdery look to it. I mentioned it to the service writer and he hasn't gotten back to me. I will mention it again when I bring her in next time.

I have this same issue with my bumpers. Mostly the rear one. The chrome job is junk, it is rusting and Dodge dosent care. I asked them about it and since I live in an area where they use chemicals on the road in the winter, they are blaming the chemicals. My rear bumper has rust on it in spots, it looks like the rocks thrown up by the tires chipped the chrome off. So the paint job is junk, the chrome is junk, the transmission is junk. Well it is a good thing they have a Cummins motor under the hood or I would be sprinting to brand F or C.

OK, maybe I shouldn't admit this:

Someone backed into my truck at the mall - left a 3" long crease on the rear bumper. I was a leetle p. o. 'd. Then, to make matters worse, all the rental cars I have been driving lately made me forget how long my truck is and I backed into the house. Not through the door. I now have a 2" vertical crease on the other side of the bumper. And a 6" missing chunck of stucco on the house.

Oh, well. Can't get p. o. 'd at myself, can I?

Anyway, even though these bumpers are thin, I have had no evidence of peeling or chipping where they were creased. Believe me, no bumpers are any good any more - F or C or Dodge or Honda or nobody. It's just the way they make them. I'm going to leave my bumper as a reminder to look before backing!

Thanks Guys! I'm going to make an issue of it when- when I go in with my laundry list. Maybe if enough complain they will do something about it. Just spoke to a friend who is a TDR prospect ('04 QC 2500) and He don't like his rear bumper either.

If you really want to be sick, check behind your bumper. Mine was covered in surface rust within 2 months of owning the truck. On the outside, the chrome looks fine, but it's a rusty mess on the inside.

Eventually I'll replace front and rear with Buckstops. :) Bigbob... that's a beauty!
