Well I've decided on a number I want for my truck. . 450RWHP. I've got a 0 plate but was thinking about going to a 100 plate, because I've read if there isn't even a slight curve it kind of throws the pumps off and mine is ground flat. I've got 370 injectors as you can see from my sig. I plan on putting an S&B intake and an AFE intake manifold when they come for the 12v and either a BD or an ATS exhaust manifold. What else can I do to get up to the power levels I'm hoping for? Also I have the 160 pump if that helps anything.

Like it says in the sig I've got a perf. TC and valve body but the guy that had the truck before me forgot what brand:rolleyes: but I do believe him because it shifts hard and locks hard and gives me the power I know that is in there for now... so any help would be good.

Thanks guys,

Bryce

450...

If you plan on doing it the right way then I would start with making sure the top end was bullitt proof and install some gauges to keep an eye on things. To attain the 450 it will be necessay for a turbo change and with it comes higher boost levels which means the top end will need to be addressed. Head studs, headgasket and either oringed or fire ringed to be able to handle increased pressures should be done to aid in longevity. You can make 450 without them, but,it will not live long like that... ... Andy

I understand the head gasket and stud issue. I've got boost, pyro, and trans temp gauges already in the truck. I was thinking about a turbo from II along the lines of the super 62. What would be the better choice of the governing spring kit. . the 3k or the 4k? My tach doesn't work as of right now and I plan on getting that straightened out after I buy new tires then I will be able to monitor everything a lot better knowing my RPM range. If you don't mind me asking how much are you making Andy?

My friends brother has a 98 12valve with the 4k, 0 plate, ATS exhaust manifold, II 62, 370s and he is pushing out I think 471RWHP is what they told me. I understand the pump differences but just wondering.

Thanks for the help,

Bryce

With the mods in my sig I dynoed 430 on straight diesel and 460 with the water/meth. If you keep boost below 40psi I'd feel comfortable with the stock head gasket with everything but the water/meth. Mine was good until 245k miles and 100k+ of that was with the current mods. Once the water/meth was on I kept the pressure at 100psi (instead of 200psi max) and was just keeping my fingers crossed that the head would hold. On the other hand your head gasket could blow tomorrow :).

I do have a 215hp pump so I'm not sure what it'd take for a 160.

I never did blow the head gasket but I did just have it o-ringed as part of my twins install.

My $0. 02
