I finally did a (several) dyno runs today. My best stock was only 152 Hp and 388 Torque. See my sig. for year and etc. I have a turnbuckle on the wastegate, which makes the needle of my 30 psi boost gauge diappear. The torque sounded a lil off to me, but the Hp sounded way off. What gives ?? Any ideas ?? transmission doesn't feel like it's slipping at all. The truck has 53k miles. Lift pump seems to be working just fine. I also did a few runs with the Blue Chip Diesel APB box on. Max Hp. was 242 and torque was 558. These #'s are definately low from what Chip says the box should produce to the ground. I'll try to attatch a copy of the best run.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Have you put a guage on your fuel pressure? I have had trucks come in the shop that ran fine just low on power. Everything worked fine, but a Pressure guage showed under 5 psi at 70 mph and a vacuum at full throttle. :--)

I'm still pretty new to this. Just any old fuel pressure guage will work ?? Where's the easiest and quickest place to temporarily hook one up to ?

You should have a schrader valve on the side of the VP44. It will look like a A/C fitting. You should have no less than 8 psi WOT per Dodge specs. Make sure you drive it down the road so you can load the engine.

jeeepxj,

Does your fueling box have a boost fooler built in, or do you have a seperate boost fooler? If not the ECM may be detecting to much boost and cutting back fuel.

This is just a shot in the dark, I rarely know what I'm talking about.

Good luck,

Chris

The APB box I have has a boost fooler. So hopefully the ECM is convinced. I'm gonna try and get a hold of a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow and check the Lift Pump. I'm sure the LP is good. I recently changed my fuel filter and it only took two cycles of the pump to keep the truck running smooth again. Anyone else with more suggestions on my lost power ??

Here goes. I got 10-11 psi (11. 5 max) at idle. I get around 7 (any grade will take it lower) cruising at 70mph. If I stand on it for 20-30 seconds, it'll get down to about 4psi. These numbers are all with my APB box turned all the way down (stock). If I turn up the box 1/4 or so, I can get the fuel down to just under 3psi if I stay in the throttle.

What are the good numbers to have again ?? I'm assuming that the LP is starting to go on me. Will this low pressure affect my horsepower that much ??

Dodge shouldn't have the least bit of problem swapping out the pump under warranty, right ??

Anyone got the part number for the "newer" style lift pump for my 01' with an automatic ??

what's the difference between the new and the old style ??
