Just as the title implies! How much can we get out of a common rail without the use of electronics? I've got a new 06 but with all of the warrranty issues I'm wondering what I could do for more power without the use of electronics. Knowing what I know know I know I could do pretty good with a 2nd gen 24 valve with injectors and boost fooler stuff but how about the CRD's. Has anyone broken 500 hp without a programmer.
 
With 100hp nozzles, cam, and big turbo, my truck dynoed at 347/634. That was with all the boxes turned off, but still connected. Stock, it was at 265/474. I imagine there's a little more to be had with a cp3 upgrade, but I doubt 500 is achievable without some form of electronics, although 450 might be, on an 06.
 
Rams-n-Hogs, you saw one break 500 with just timng enhancement on injectors, cam, CP3 and twin turbos.

B. ) Where did the timing enhancement come from?

C. ) I was thinking single turbo. Probably easier to spool than twins, without a box, unless you have some really huge injectors. :D And who has those? :-laf

The TST on 1-1 is timing only. :D As for big injectors, hmmmm... ... let me think about that LOL :-laf

Yeah. Too bad they aren't like the 12V's. Then we might actually be able to get some power out of them. :-laf

C'mon guy - let's not be deliberately dense - this was about aftermarket power increases - and we BOTH know it! ;)

You and Gary must be drinking from the same water:-laf... ... so lets try this again. Re read "my" post and quote exactly where "I" said "I" made 500 without electronics.



I guess the bottom line is we need to admit to "Gary" that it won't be done without at least a box to do timing or a box to do boost fooling. :rolleyes:

Now I need to get to work on my "entirely mechanical boost fooler" and tone ring/crankshaft sensor mod for timing so I can put this to rest :-laf

YEAH, well, when you get THAT all figured out, consider working on something to eliminate these dern VP-44's with something as versatile while you're at it - then you'll be instantly elevated to HERO status! :-laf :-laf

Of course, injectors, turbos, cams, CP-3s and wastegates are all going to void your warranty just as fast as any electronics will. :confused:

I understand that, but I guess my thought was that I could work towards some useful gains that the average tech wouldn't know about. That way when my power windows don't work they won't blame the box.



lmills, could the timing be accomplished with something like the Roktek timing sensor thing? What about a boost fooler, does someone make a simple plug in set-up like you can get for the 24 valves?
 
roktek only does somewhere around 1-2* timing if I remember correct. You would need more than that to get the performance out of the injectors that you are looking for
