Silicone Intercooler connect hoses?

I like Kendrick's external wastegates that he puts on most of his systems. I'm currently building a setup with either a 38 or 40mm external gate, stock '04 turbo and a BHT3E 22cm. I want fast spool up and about 600-700hp. Still waiting on the machine shop for some flanges to be built. Also going to run a HTT exhaust manifold. Any opinions on this setup? Its the first one I'm building.

The only difference between the BHT3B and the E is the flange on the compressor discharge. . it's like a B2.

You may end up changing to the 26cm. My turbo guy, Ken at TAD, thinks the 22 won't be good for 600+ hp. I'm torn on the subject. He thinks the 22 won't flow enough, I lean toward driving the big turbo harder.

The more you can use the big turbo to do the better. Big compressors flow more mass. Mass makes power, not pressure. Pressure is required to force the mass into the engine. 30 psi out of the BHT3 will be more dense than the small turbo at the same pressure because large impellers compress with less heat. I think driving the big turbo harder than the little one will result in more power, within limits of course.

Without wastegating the hot pipe you'll have a hard time controlling the rotor speed of the 3B/22 over 600hp. The only other way is to raise the PR/boost of the secondary and that increases back pressure and egt's.

I have a B1-2 right now,is the b2 the right turbo to go with for twins or the HT3B,truck will be used for some towing and hotroding, plans are for hrvp,Mach4/Smarty on the way,Piers Head/Cam. Any options/suggestions greatly apprieciated. :) :) :) . Might have to give Rip/Opee a call for some suggestions too,bin looking at there kits. Thanks DW

I have been running the bht3b/23 and a 62. 80 twin set for a little over a year and have great results. I am all about torque down low. I do however run a wastegate in the top charger and one in the hot pipe set up to dump in a preset time. I think the results are great for the every day driver. My best numbers to date that have been backed up by 4 runs are 662. 9hp and 1632. 6trq. Those were done at 2200 and 2100 rpms on a superflow dyno.

Having driven almost every combination of twins listed in this thread, If you are looking for 500 to 550 the ht3b 22 will be great. With moderate fueling and the stock turbo on top it will start spooling below 1200 rpms. Mark and I built this setup over the weekend. It spools very fast!! And the truck will not smoke. However if you want to go over 550hp it will not work very well, 550 to 600 I would recommend HT3b 26, above 600 go with the Aurora 5000 from ATS, over 750 have the big brother.

Because it seems to me that i have proved that. See my above post. Proven results. Works great for a daily driver.

The question being pondered is weather the 26 would make more power than the 22 or 23 at that HP level. the smaller housing definitely spools better but is it enough to hurt power above 600hp.

it's a question of relative efficiency. how much HP would your 662 hp truck make with a 26 instead?

how bout this idea. :-laf bring a couple turbos down here to GA and put one on my truck and build me a set of twins :-laf (for free) then i will put the fuel to it and let you know if it works good for the amount of power you want. :-laf

Been there done that. For everyday useage the 23cm hands down. I just took off the 26 and went back to the 23 due to the lag of the 3b. I like torque down low. It holds great all the way thru 3000rpms. The key is to gate the hot pipe and the secondary to control rotor speed of both chargers. Keep them in there correct operating range. I have to agree that if you dont gate the 3b with a 23cm the top end really suffers. Thats when the 26 will shine.

I always like my PDR HT3B/26 and had really good luck with it and it's still going strong after 3+ years. The Big Brother is definitely a higher HP turbo but when I'm in valet the truck makes around 525 hp... give or take and it spools good too so I never understood the lower HP guys having an issues with it but they do seem to have them. There are a few turbo's out there that are allot better than the B/B but I would never, never hybrid one.

Is there an version of the HT3B that is better/easy for twins. The one we have will have the hot pipe at an angle. Most of the pictures I see on this site have the hot pipe straight.

Having the hot pipe at an angle and not dead vertical is not a problem.

That's just part of the HT3B having a counter clockwise rotation.

Wes
