driverno8... did you go with the 12cm housing or the 14cm housing?

Clayton-

Next time I'm in SLC I ought to get a hold of you and I'll let you drive my truck. I started out with the 12 cm housing and like driverno8 said it spooled almost like stock. I felt it was fine running say the BDDL by itself, but when I stacked the VA it it did get hot in 5th and 6th pedal matted uphill (not towing) - hot as in peg the EGT gauge and water temps noticeably coming off of the middle of the gauge to about 210 or so. The BDDL/VA stack was worth 454 HP/969 TQ at the rear wheels just to give you a reference point. The 12 cm when I ran it with the TST was insane fast spool overshooting the 40 psi wastegate setting by 5 psi or so faster than the tach moved, but non-pegged EGT gauge on 5x5 or 6x5. I believed numerous times that this turbo would have been toast!

When I switched to 100 HP injectors with a pressure box and cam the first thing out of Dynomite Diesel's shop was change to a 14 cm housing and keep the 62 mm compressor to control drive pressures without surge. With the DDTTPM on #4 I will hit 1400* and 36 psi tops in 6th empty up a 6% hill matted. EGT will then settle to about 1100* and water temp gauge barely moves. This combo at BullyDog dog days was 507 HP/1022 TQ (weird mustang dyno - DD website says on their truck configurator without a cam this is about 480 HP)). As far as spool, the 14 cm now feels like the old 12 cm, but smoother I believe from the injectors and cam.

A buddy in town here runs the SP66 with TST and quad pressure box on 305/555 6 speed and loves it. He was telling me a while back about towing a heavy car trailer @ 10k lbs up 6% grade (Emigrant Pass) on I80 at ~1150* @ 85 mph. He did say that the SP66 is a little laggy around town and he had to be careful about unintentionally smoking people out. He also said though that the aggressive TST program helps out on the lag. He tried the Killer B2 last year (before apparent changes) and hated it due to surging empty and towing.

That's the cool thing about these turbos. They're upgradable. In month or so you don't need to buy the whole turbo. Just the housing.

I already have the ATS 2 piece on my truck.

It's bigger than stock, someone correct me if I'm wrong here but the stock is a 9cm housing with a 52mm inducer, the HTB2 is a 62mm (or 64 if you go Killer B) with either a 12 or 14cm housing.

FWIW, the HTBG I had was a 57mm with a 12cm housing.

It shouldn't affect your pac-brake that I know of, I reused my stock downpipe.

Is the ATS manifold really needed? and how many of you are still running stock exhaust manifold

When your factory manifold cracks - I suppose it is;)

Factory manifold and factory turbo cracked due to heat. Replaced both with ats manifold and HTBG turbo. #6 injector decides to start working overtime, filled the engine with diesel, cooked the turbo:mad:
