What turbo would work best on my 99 5 speed? Heavy hauling is a daily thing for this truck & egts are running @ 1300 lately with my bullydog 90 hp injectors, comp,stacked superchips, 4 inch exhaust, & volant intake. I am comparing the HTB2-64/14 or Phat shaft 64/14. [surging,etc. ] Any heavy haulers using these Turbos? Anything new I don't know about? Edge? Holla :{

I have the phat shaft 62/14 with a similar setup and tow my kubota tractor and trailer about 7000pds with this combo and no egt problems. If it starts getting hot i will turn the box down or just leave it off. Only complaint i have is its a little laggy compared to my stock turbos spool up,but i guess you cant have the best of both without having a twin setup.

I run an HTB2 62/14 and tow a heavey 5er ,it stays cool :) give chris at RIVER CITY TURBO A CALL (501-562-7488) he's a good guy to deal with.

I wouldn't recommend a 64 for towing. Depending upon your fueling situation, you may not like it.

I have to drive by the pyro when towing. It's a turbo that's better suited for performance.

I'm not knocking it, I like the turbo. But heavy pulling will cause it to surge and the EGT's will climb.

At least with my mods it does.

I have the Killer B2 64/14 with a TON 'O FUEL... . and even with my fuel plate & AFC housing all the way back I still get surge hauling heavy.

Best bet is to call HTT and see what they recommend to avoid surging. I only tow a gooseneck a few time a year, and sled pull as often as possible. I absolutely LOVE my B2 it performs flawlessly. I pulled twice at my last pull a month ago now pushing 45psi down the track both times... . no problems! ;) :D Oo.

I have the HX 35/40 hybrid.

Industrial injection has them... they also have the others but for my needs and mods, I went with a hybrid so I could use the same elbow and have 40 compressor to get 40 PSI on boost. Haven't towed with it yet but so far, in all other conditions, the spooling is quick and a satisfying black cloud out the pipe. !!

We have installed numerous PS62 turbos on truck equipped and used like yours. All the customers are very happy..... Another consideration would be the Super Phat Shaft 62, just more of a good thing.

I am running a HTT 62/12 with my 01 6 speed in the signature and with the box off NO EGT problems. If you need anymore info shoot me a PM.

industrial injection has other turbos available that will take care of the surging. I run the sps62 and tow about 6k and it does great. Only see 1150 when the air is on and it is 90+ outside. I have a set of dons m4's on the way and was told I would be fine with this setup. Good luck :)

I second the PS62 or SPS62 I would stick with the 62mm varients unless you plan on huge injectors soon.

I have a SPS 62 and love it. I have no surging issue's at all and EGT's set arond 590 to 610 everyday driving. I've never seen over 900 degree's WOT up past the 100 MPH mark... If I ever want to up grade the turbo, I can send it in and have industrail injection upgrade it to a 64 or 66 depending on what I want or have done for 5 or $600... You pay for what you get and you won't be disappointed with one of these turbo's... .
