Hey who has this turbo and what do you think about it.

I am looking at one but curious about spooling, surging and towing.



Friend has 9812v 370's, laser dv's some timing and a few other odds, but he tows a lot and is curious how it would be.

We have spoke to a few people and some say it surges and some say it doesn't.

I experienced surging only a couple times, both at high altitude under moderate throttle. Otherwise the turbo performed flawlessly towing as heavy as 27k gross and I dynoed as high as 503 hp with it. No complaints here but heep in mind a 12 valve is a stretch from a third gen.

You talking about Lawson? :-laf I told him it surges. It sure surged on me hauling Mitches Duramax home Saturday night. :rolleyes: Then again I've got 370's, Laser DV's, & #100 plate centered. I was hauling a 22-24ft home made goose with Mitches club cab short bed 4x4 and I was having to let out b/c of EGT's. Long hills I would have to go down to 4th gear. I'd say with less fuel and having to back out of the throttle that surging wouldn't be as harsh. I think I'm gonna back my plate off some more. :-laf
 
surging is a function of air flow, not fuel... the plate won't effect it at moderate/light throttle...



cam and head porting will help prevent surging... larger turbine side will help prevent surging...



less fuel at a given throttle angle will not

Info to convince the better half I need a cam and upgrade to a SP66... SWEET! :-laf
