I put my new htb2 62/12 on today and the oil feed line is a differnt fitting than the one in the new turbo. I would like to know what it is so I can get an adapter or order a new line. TIA
The adapter screws out of the top of your stock charger where you oil line screwed in. Just transfer it to your new HTT charger and all will be well again!
Mark he had a 'Baby H1C'. It doesn't have the adaptor found on the IC'd H1C and HX35's. Cade you'll need the adaptor from a 91. 5- 02+?. I found this out when I went from the baby h1c to a hx35. Cummins, junkyard or a good hydraulic/fitting shop will be the place to source one.
That makes sence, They never said anything about needing an adapter. Does the adapter bolt on with two bolts on the perimeter or does it screw right in the hole and adapt to the oil line. It looks like straight threads with an "o" ring at the top, is that correct. I really don't want to wait and order one If I knew the correct fitting I can probobly get an adapter somewhere in town. Thanks guys for the help.
Why not see if the adaptor from your H1C will work? I used the adaptor from my "baby" H1C on my early 91, and it fit fine. Then you could replace the adaptor on the old turbo at your leaisure, and still have your pickup.
Worth a shot; worst that can happen is it not work, and you're out 5min of your time.
I had to buy an adapter when I replaced the small H1C turbo on my 1990. I sourced one from Cummins, part # 3919687 @ $5. 30. You could also buy one from ANY dealership that sells Cummins parts.
I bet he's wanting bigger injectors now that he doesn't have insane spoolup the way he did with the baby h1c and NONwastegated 14cm housing:-laf... slippery slope...
Ahh I see why you want his report . Yeah thats what they say nonIC'd injectors are about the same as 185's. Some nonIC'd owners actually lost power when they installed 185's. C'mon now Michael, you are our resident towing/truck workhorse, you should do some R&D on what 'big' turbo works for a work truck .
I have too many projects to be doing any R&D on my tow vehicle. Besides, when your start talking the $$ for turbos around my house, it better work right the first time. I'm waiting for my truck pulling friend to upgrade his BD twins(ie perfect for towing) and buy his anyway :-laf
I hear ya. I like to purchase one turbo for two trucks. Upgrade truck one, truck two gets truck one's old turbo. Two for one.
Yeah those baby BD twins would be good for towing I bet. I got to look close at a set out of chassis at IRP, and man were they TINY:-laf!! I've seen bigger singles than the big turbo in the set. Then the itty bitty piping... . ok enough BD twin bashing .
I havent got it up and running yet, I'm still working 5 12's 3hrs from home. All of the parts stores are closed for the weekend. I kinda just want to relax anyway. I'm running into some snags with hooking exhaust and intercooler piping to the turbo. I have to machine 2 v band flanges up to make a downpipe and 90 deg turn to the intercooler. The banks intercooler used a silicone boot to connect to the turbo and the htb2 uses the v band clamp and 90 deg turn found on second gens and possibly intercooled 1st gens. I should be done next week up north so I should be able to finish it soon. Along with ladder bars,airbags,4in intake with BHAF,4in downpipe and exhaust and 5in miter cut stacks. I cant wait
