Turbo to Manifold gasket blew on my friend's truck. After taking it apart i checked the shaft play on the turbo and it has the normal back and forth play but side to side seems a little too much. The turbo is 10 months old and has 8,000 miles on it. What do you think? Link below: In comparison my stock 130,000 mile turbo has about the same play.

Got an anwser from HTT. The shaft play is there to allow the oil to pass threw the bearings in order to lube. In other words you need room for the oil to fit around the bearings. I didn't think that you needed that much room but I guess you do. Thnx

If it has endplay you have problems. Side to side is alright unless you can make it touch the housing.

That turbo needs some attention. You shouldn't be hearing that "click click" sound( sorry that is the best way I can explain it) End play is no good.
