HTT64/13 ss

Just got off the phone with HTT about sizing a turbo. They recommended a 64/13 ss part #1364359. Anyone running this on an 04. 5 or newer? Want opinions if you are running this. Pretty much a daily driver pulling 12k 5th wheel ocassionaly. Truck has a built auto,3. 73 and 245/75/19. 5 (33inch)tires and smarty,psm,and cool duals. Also planning DDP 50hps or kax 80hp injectors.

That is pretty high geared for towing that much weight with a bigger turbo.

Hmm, I thought they recommended the 62 for towing and daily driving. The 64 and 66 are more for racing.

I have the 62/13ss and like it - was a bit concerned about spool with the 64. So far no regrets. Been towing with the smarty on 3 (revo- stock RP, after market inj timing, mild TQ) and it stays pretty cool. I haven't towed over any mountains with it yet, but have run it up on-ramps hard to 75 mph or so and only managed to get to 1200 (9-10K 5th wheel).

I would read the forums for reviews on whatever turbo you're interested in... I hate to say this, but I firmly believe that often times various companies recomend whatever turbo they've currently got overstocked on the shelves



I say this because component recomendations seem to vary a LOT given similar application criteria.



This is NOT a dig on HTT or any other company that advertises/supports the forums, just something I have noticed from calling various vendors and talking with others who have done so...

Well good feedback. I too was concerned about the 64 spool but my expertise is from what I have read. I was thinking the 62 as well but wanted some educated input as not to make a $$$ mistake. :-laf

Having an auto, I might lean a little more toward the 62. I have the 64/65/13ss turbo on my truck and love it. I have no problem spooling it with a smarty, but I do have a 6 speed, so that changes the game a little bit. Which wheel does that turbo have, the 65 or 71? But overall, the best for towing will be the 62/65/13ss when looking at spool. Tac

I have that exact turbo on my truck and like it. I drive the truck daily and also plow snow in the winter with it. I have not really towed any real weight with it tho only about 8K a couple of times. I do notice that I get a lot of turbo bark with it, thats the only real downfall that I have noticed.

Yes this would be the 64/13/65 but I think it would be better to go 62/13/65. Thanks for the feedback!
