Hello, I have problems with my truck pulling hard to the right when I apply brakes. It has fairly new brakes and rotors (two months old) and new left hub bearing assembly. For some reason I think the new hub is defective because it didn't seem all that tight when it was new but, I don't know. It just started doing this two week ago. Thanks

Ok, I have the right hub off in front of me right now and it seems tight but, my question is this, does the hub require and pre-load by cranking down on the axle nut? Thanks HCanales

correction: require (ANY) pre-load

I swaped all my components on the right front to the left, everything excluding the brake pads. Still pulls to the right, really hard! Also, it makes a loud squeal, the same its been doing for the last couple of weeks. So I jacked the back end up and ran it about 80mph and noticed the same squeal. What the heck! I don't understand, can anyone please give me suggestions I can really use them right now. thanks

Sounds like your left caliper may not be working like it should. . If the right bearing was bad, it would be very noticable at ALL times, not just braking. I would disassemble your brakes, then take a good file to the pad sliders. Those have a habit of locking up and holding the brakes. . If you havent bled off your old fluid, this is a good time. I just replaced mine a little while ago, got better braking because of it.

As for the squeal, you could have a bad carrier bearing on your driveshaft, or worse, a bad bearing somewhere in your trans...

yes the bearings do need preload, not much though, about 15 ftlb's max im pretty sure... I seem to recall a 40-50 ftlb torque, then 1/8 turn back till the castle nut lines up. .

good luck

Was your old right rotor warped or pulling? Mine was, the caliper was sticking. Heated up and warped the rotor. I finally put on new preloaded calipers from NAPA. Great braking now, nice and straight.

It sounds to me that you have a stuck caliper.

The slides on these calipers need a lot of attention you can change the rubber boot and pins. the piston could also be sticking requiring a rebuild or a different caliper (new or re-built) when I do my brakes I usually run the piston in and most of the way out 3 or 4 times and pull the slide pins down , shine them up and re-lube everything.

I just returned from my trip, Thanks guys! I'm going to try the slides in a while to see what happens, that make alot of sense.

I just replaced the caliper on my pass side and didn't replace the caliper on the drivers side cause they were only a year old.

The new caliper on the pass side caused the truck to pull to that side (right) so I replaced the drivers side and that cured it.

I would have thought that being only 1 year old there wouldn't be that much of a difference but probably due to the overheating of them one couldn't react as fast as the other.
