I posted in the "obsolete parts" section but apparently not everyone looks there.

I need a set of hub caps for my '92. I want the full cover style NOT the small caps and rings style. Also I have 16" wheels and apparently 15" is "the Norm"

There were some "OLD" posts but none gave specific info about where I might find some. After the great response (and finding the cord) in my other post I thought I'd try this here.

Any info will be appreciated.

Hmmm, I'll have to look... . what would you be willing to spend on 'em? I've got some of the old SS? that look kinda like spoke wheels..... is that what you're talking about? I'll try to get a pick tomorrow for ya... . they came off my '90 model... . I kinda want to keep 'em... . here's some on ebay:1980 Dodge Ram Hub Caps w/ 16" adaptor | eBay

FYI the obsolete parts section is where folks post solutions and or sources for NLA parts, not "looking to buy", that belongs in the classifieds.

reworded

I reworded the posting to "hopefully" comply with Forum rules. Apparently you can NOT edit the original topic of a thread. I changed the wording in an attempt to comply with the forum rules but the topic title did NOT change.

Sorry if I violated the rules...

I don't think they'll take the dashes out of your social security number ;), just wanted to let you know why you didn't get much response.

Good luck on your search. :)

Well, not many people look in the classifieds compared to the threads. We post here to ask for help, and to help each other. If you're not getting any help in the classifieds, I don't blame you for putting it here. And no more traffic than comes through here anymore, I don't think you really hurt anything. No worries. I'd have probably done the same thing, only I would have worded it differently..... Like... ... Hey, anyone got any hubcabs, or know where I can find some?..... Just a suggestion, for next time, my friend.

Were those on Ebay not what you were looking for?

ebay hub caps...........

Actually the ones on ebay may be what I have to go with.

They don't seem to be going anywhere real quickly so I can think about it for a couple days. The problem is they are not for a 4X4 and have no hole in them for the hubs.

Any suggestions on how to cut a hole in aluminum caps ? (I don't have a hole saw that big)

Thanks for any suggestions in advance... .....

Billy:cool:

Yeah, any of the heavy duty 4 wheel drive trucks came with the "Dog Bowl" caps that had the hole for the manual hub. As far as cutting them, you need about a 4. 5 or 5" hole saw... ... or find an adjustable saw... . I've got the tooling in my shop, but that doesn't do you much good, does it? :-laf

There are some cheap hole saw kits out there that go up to 5", and larger carbide and M2 tool steel adjustable saws that would work well. Something like this, perhaps, would be more versatile to you, if you don't do a lot with tools..... NEW General Circle Cutter Pack Hole Saws - Adjustable 5B 038728210098 | eBay

I have one similar I've used repeatedly over the years, even resharpening the bit several times. They're ok, but cut pretty slow. I wouldn't use them for very thick steel, but they'll work ok for thin SS and Aluminum.

Have you looked at aftermarket wheels or updating to the newer Dodge style wheel?

Thanks for the info on the saw... ... ... .

I'm thinking I might just contact a couple of local fabrication shops and see if I can get the holes cut by someone with a little more experience at that sort of thing than I have.

As for the other suggestions I just like the look of the flat style hub caps... ...

Also, I don't want to spend the money on different wheels/adapters/etc. If I do get some caps and cut holes in them I'll take pics after I get them mounted and we'll see how they look.

Any other possible locations for the caps or does everybody use ebay now?

Thanks, Billy:rolleyes:
