The day started like any other, except I had the day off of work. What a day to do some maintenace on the Cummins. CHecked my log and found that it only needed a oil and filter change.

What a day to drop in that case of Amsoil HDD I have been sitting on.

Everything went fine and as usual until I torqued the CRAPPY SUPERPLUG from Geno's back in place. Started dumping oil in and it was coming back out nearly as fast!. Had never lost so much as a drip in the past!

Had a new sealing washer on and checked the threads and surface prior to torquing it to the required 40ft/lbs. Still leaked like a sive. Cranked on it some more, still leaked.

Couldnt find the old DC plug but was able to track one down at a Stealer a couple of towns over. ONly cost me $14 for the plug and washer. And aprox $60 for all the Amsoil I had to dump. WIth a stop at the auto store for $25 worth of Premiun Blue.

Well I never thought that I would say this but DC aleast made a drainplug that does what its supposed too. New plug in and not even a drop!

My superplug now resides at the bottom of the trash can where it belongs!.

Lessons learned: Sometimes OEM is better and there is no such thing as "routine" maintence.

If you have the Geno's superplug and have not had problems with it, you will. Pull it at next change and toss it.

I wonder if Geno's will give us refunds..... They supposedly stand behind the products they sell. This would be a good test for them... . Mine is siliconed right now to stop the leaks until my next oil change where it is going in the garbage! #@$%! #@$%!

Robin, are you reading this?

Glad I didn't get sucked into that one. Mine isn't broken and I couldn't imagine any HP gains by switching. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

It must be the gasket

You mentioned you had the fiber gasket. I wonder if that is the culprit?

None the less, I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

Gasket

Never leaked with the fiber gasket just started when I switch to the actual cummins/dc rubber and metal gasket. All is well now though with the DC plug back in place.

My super plug is still in the filing cabinet. I can't remember to put in in when I change the oil. I had the same leak problem with the trans pan drain plug from Genos and I replaced the gaskets with copper. NO MORE LEAKS. I can't stand a leak. I probably have spent $50,000 on repairing drips and seaps on equipment in the last 20 years and one barrel of oil would probablly been all I lost if I never fixed a one; But the mess it makes. UGH.

Super Plug Crap

I had the same problem with my super plug. First plug came with a fiber/cork gasket. It worked fine when I changed oil the next time and installed a OEM gasket with the superplug major oil leakage. I then installed the 9/16 head plug, forget the name, from Genos and it worked fine. I think the problem with the super plug is that it needs a larger diameter sealing area in order to seat the OEM gasket that is recommended from superplug and Genos. I think if you could find a washer that would fit the superplug it would work.

Also Genos is now reporting that they have heard of a few (2) plugs that came loose and lost oil?? So much for the super plug. Genos has said they will refund great people to work with.

Refund from Geno's

Just got an Email from genos ref the superplug. I had ordered a new Heavy duty plug form them but it was on back order. I asked them to cancell the order and they did. I advised them that I was replacing a leaking superplug that I bought from them and they advised that there is a credit slip for the cost of the plug going out in the mail today. They are excellant to work with!
