Speedo problem/questions

Power Stroke Question

Hi Folks,

First - thanks for your help on this project. I know a lot about Hummer H1's, but little to nothing about the CTD. A long story short, I bought a '93 H1 pickup and restored it including front and rear lockers, beadlock wheels with IROK 32" tires, Rock Ram steering, front and rear winches, new paint - anyway the old drivetrain, a 6. 2 n/a diesel with a 3 speed auto and NP 242 AMG tcase - well you can guess.

So I bought a "salvage/rolled" 2003 Dodge Ram with the H/O engine, 4 speed auto and NV271 tcase. $10,500 with tax. I took it apart (mostly with a sawzall) and labelled everything.

Currently the motor sits in my H1 with nice new big custom driveshafts and the heavy hummer halfshafts. The intercooler and radiator will go in this

weekend, and the only difficult part is which steering column to use?

Anyway - thanks again and I will post a ton of pictures of the process. It involved alot of custom metal fabrication, some welding, and some luck.

If you want a sneak preview, join the www.humvee.net forum (its free), go to the H1 segment, and check out the thread. Its got about 220 posts and replies and lots of pictures. Buried in there is even some pretty good humor.

Anyway, its a good conversion and required alot of ingenuity that would apply to many conversions on this board. Thanks again.

worth the cost of a rolled truck?

Curious if you have priced out a new 06 or 05 motor, transmission (manual or auto), transfer case + wiring vs. what you paid for at 10,000

$5000 for the motor, $2000-4000 for transmission? $1000 transfer case. Dunno what the wiring would be. I suppose it would be close in prices.

I read through your entire post. Excellent work! Did you purchase a factory manual for your dodge yet? I installed a complete 1994 5. 9 12v with transmission and computer in my Ford E250 4x4 van(Poor man's Hummer). Everything works including the overdrive, speedo and cruise because I had all the wiring diagrams of both the Ford van and Dodge.

Your project will be much more detailed regarding the wiring harness as that engine is computer controlled in all aspects. Are you planning to stuff the entire Dodge harness in the Hummer or blend the two? In either case my advice would be to get a manual if you have not already done so.

Best of luck with your project.
