I met a guy who installed the stock wheels from a Hummer H2 on his 2005 Dodge 2500 Quad Cab. He said the 8-lug pattern matches but the center hole had to be machined slightly larger to fit the Dodge. Anyone else familiar with this wheel swap? Is the offset the same so there are no steering component conflicts? Any concerns about this swap? Practically new wheel sets and tires are readily available since the H2s get tweaked right off the lot, so it seems to be a good way to get new tires and wheels for less than the cost of replacing the tires alone, and with a better looking wheel. Any feedback?

... and what is the largest tire size that can clear without any functionality problems and without requiring any body or suspension lift?

I did my first set on my lathe, but the next 2 sets with a 3hp router and carbide flush trim bit. (much faster)

be sure you have a machine shop do the work since our wheels are hub centric

The stock wheels may be hub centric, but the stock wheels on our rigs also use the acorn style lug nuts to center the wheel. So the stock lug nuts would center the H2 wheel fine.

Even your aftermarket wheels you buy for our trucks are hubcentric to help distribute the load. It's your truck and you can do anything you want to.

The wheels are hubcentric. If you take the do it yourself route, and enlarge the center hole with a grinder, they will kind of fit. NOTE HOWEVER you will have no way to balance new tires since every balance machine I have ever seen uses the center hole.

I had a machine shop do the work on a lathe for $25 per wheel. Using a micrometer to measure the stock wheel we decided to open them up to 4. 785" (0. 011 more than the getdieselpower.com article discusses). They came out perfectly and are on the truck now. The 315 70 17 fits with good clearance all around. By my estimation this is the largest tire size that will fit up in the spare well between the frame rails if you keep the electrical routed to the inside of the rail. The family and I decided we like the look without center caps so look for a set of stock alloy wheels with center caps on craigslist. I'm off to get dressier lug nuts. Thanks to those who posted.
