This post is kinda related to the shaking engine on shutdown post. With all that shakin' going on, intercooled engines are connected to the rigid-mounted intercooler by 4 hump hoses (so-called). It seems the humps are there to provide extra play so that the intercooler mounting flanges don't tear right off during all that engine movement at shutdown.
I bought a piece of 2. 5" ID silicone hose for a spare intercooler hose, but it is not a hump hose. The hose vendor has stated that since this hose is a silicone hose it has enough play to deal with the engine vibration at shutdown.
I'm not so sure about that. The hump hoses are very expensive. Anybody got an opinion on hump hoses?
Thanks
