Oil is way down

As mentioned, the TBN of your new/used oil is important.

One thing I have noticed in my UOAs is that the TBN doesn't start out very high, but it also doesn't drop very fast either. The one UOA in which the TBN dropped more than the others also had a lot of LSD ran through during that period. I often wonder if this is a direct result of the use of ULSD?

For what it is worth, Rotella CJ-4 seems to start around a TBN of 10 or so.

I was changing my oil to sone--GOOD LUCK

I recently attended another Industry convention/seminar and spoke to the Schaeffer oil rep from St. Lewis MO.

I recall the New formulation of Schaeffers 7000 is 10 TBN.

The most importent thing to remember is that a top quality oil will not breakdown rapidly thus the TBN will remain higher... . longer.

I asked if low sulfer fuel would allow the oil to remain cleaner and he didn't believe it would.
