I just saw on there site 96-98. 5 avalable soon. Might want to call them and see. Maybe they need somebody to test that version.

This may not sound right but...

On a customer truck he was having the same problem when towing a light boat. Before I even messed with the transmission I checked the lift pump pressures and they were very erratic. (lift pump check is first order of business for all 24v customers). I replaced the lift pump and his problems have gone away. He was going to bring the truck back for me to check out the transmission problems, but it has not done it since.

There are hundreds of reasons why the TC "hunts"," unlocks" and seems to slip at speed. The new box from Happibox cures about 95% of them. They will have versions out for the pre98. 5's next month and for the 47re version of the 03's next month also. DTT has tested them and had good luck with extremely stubborn transmissions that had not worked with anything else. Most of the test trucks that had the box correctly installed reported problems solved. Some reported better fuel mileage (I suspect TC was really slipping), better lock up towing, smooth and consistent lock up and reduced rpm's at speed. The box totally eliminates voltage fluctuations that are caused by:

Age and the breaking down of wire insulation, Cummins idea of putting the computer controlled voltage regulator in the same box as the engine control computer, bad batteries, lift pump interference, alternator, injector pump, tps, add on electrical gizmos---okay you get the picture anything electrical on the truck. When you are dealing with . 01 volts (yup thats one onehundreds) it doesn't take much to mess up the lockup signal to the transmission. I am not an owner in the company I am only helping them market it to TDR members as I have been around here awhile. I believe that every truck suffers from this in some fashion and it will get worse with age. There new box is a good inexpensive solution. Their website is at www.happibox.com

It never ceases to amaze me that everything is relative. Everytime I notice something going south on the truck there

are new posts or products to do the fix. My truck is a 97, and the transmission just started acting up by lingering or dropping out of lockup. I Was thinking about checking out the search posts

for how to clean the TPS. Now I am aware there are many reasons for it to fluctuate. Sometimes it feels like us members are test pilots for the dodge/cummins project. My truck is great, but I think without the internet and TDR , I might have moved on to other and (not necessarily greener )pastures.
