I really needed a job, so

Need help selecting new ISP

Well, it looks as though my brother will get his wish,(wants to see a hurricane first hand) as catagory 4 Hurricane Frances moves closer to southeastern Florida, he is right in it's path. At first I thought he'd be upset since he was suposed to be coming back here (Michgan) for the Labor Day weekend. His plane was to leave Saturday morning, but after looking at when the storm is likely to hit the coast, it seems like he's stuck in Florida.

He's about 4-6 miles from the coast I guess, just got a new (to him) house, but it's not a "hurricane ready" house, therefore he's staying with some freinds that have a new house, with all the lastest hurricane defenses. I know at least one of our members is in that realitive location also, (BFC). I wish Glenn, my brother Brian, and everyone else good luck again. I know my brother is ready, armed with his camcorder in hand.

Good luck to your Bro.

I got a question for some of you southerners.....

How on earth do you prepare a house for a hurricane?

My uncle just flew down this afternoon to help my cousin board up her house and ride out the hurricane. I talked to my cousin after Charley hit and she said the eye passed within 3-4 miles of her house, but she was lucky and didn't have much damage. Hopefully she'll be lucky again with Frances.

Well if you dont have heavy duty window shutters you buy (or have on hand) plywood and cover all the windows. Secure any items that you cannot move into the house or garage like large boats, picnic tables etc. I have a couple of boats one is a 26ft open fisherman I hitch it up to my CTD in the front drive and hope it does not blow over. My Dodge makes a great "land" anchor  .

Other than boarding up all exterior windows that is about it for house prep. The home I live in survived the worst of hurricane Camile in 1969 and that was one bad storm. So I usually stay here at the house and ride them out. What I hate is when they hit at night and you cannot see what is going on outside.

Best of luck to those in FL ... my thoughts and prayers are with you all...
