This will be long, but it was so much fun. Anyone looking at any of my posts will know I have been working on my truck quite a bit lately. Not only the work I have done to the pump and turbo, but I completely rebuilt the transmission, put in a new clutch and put new bearings in the rear end. I've gotten really tired of working on it if you know what i mean.

On my way back to the office from lunch today, I stop at a light where there is about 1/8 mile stretch in front of me before the left lane ends and 4 lanes become 2. I'm in the right lane and low and behold a new Chevrolet SS pickup pulls up on my left. I know his intentions are to jump in front and cut me off. I figure I'm getting my butt handed to me, but being the competetive type I am, I just can't let him by. I figure I'll get an A for effort.

This shouldn't have been close. The Chevy is a 345 HP 1/2 ton truck that should weigh considerably less than the 4wd Cummins.

I dusted him big time. We left the light at the same time and I pulled on him in every gear. When I top out 4th gear, I let off as we are nearing the end of his lane. I figure he'll slow down and get over, but NOOOOOO. He tries to come on by even after he has run out of lane. I floor it in 5th and he never gets past the door. He finally lets off when he realizes he has no chance.

I think I may actually wash the truck this weekend.

Between 7 & 8 usually and it depends on what gen. The new ones are the heaviest. I am around 7300 or so.

I'm at just over 7300 with the short box, must be all the crap I carry

Crap -20' log chain, duct tape, tire chains, mis. straps and stuff, 5er hitch, duct tape, hand tools for ??, it needs a good cleaning;)

Hey BJ, tha's a great story. How's that new clutch holding?

I kinda had a similiar story from this past weekend... I was hauling a small load and my family from MD this past weekend. I came upon a '06 CTD driving very badly thru CT. I decided to pass him and kinda smoked a bit going by... He was angry, kept challenging, passing then hanging back, flashing lights etc.
I finally decided enough and totally smoked him out and went fast (mind you family in cab with me so I was kinda limited :| ). Anyway, I wouldn't let him pass by for about 25 miles... At the next toll booth he took the advantage of me shifting to blow by me while shifting from a start - took the next off ramp rightfuly so...

If there hadn't been family and the clutch was more than 1000 mile on it, serious spanking... LOL

p. s. I did look around the truck in this case, no TDR badges. Very nice truck, black quad cab, lots of detail and chrome, 4" exhaust, NY registration. Likes competition :D

Clutch is hanging in there great. I would guess that I am at the upper limit of just about any organic clutch. I'd like to get it on a dyno just to see where I'm at, but nothing I really trust around here. I have abused the crap out of it since I put it in.

While putting in the governor springs, I did back the plate up about 2mm and I also played with the AFC to get rid of some of the low rpm smoke. The plate moving was noticable, but it still feels pretty strong.
