I have never met Nowel, but you seem to get to know people by reading their posts. He truly will be missed. God Bless.

I cannot express the sadness that this news has brought me.

I propose a moment of silence at the beginning of every DHRA, TDR, etc. event in memory of our friend Nowel Thomas.

You will be missed by thousands of people.

Matt & Family

My truest regrets and condolences to the family and friends of Nowell.

I only knew him constructively through the TDR, but his contributions here and otherwise will live on.

He is now where the fuel is always pure and the tires never wear. Next time big black clouds come up in the sky, we'll have to wonder...

Matt, I like your idea a lot. He was one of innovators in this industry and probably THE 24V innovator for sure. The more this sinks in,the more i realize how much of an effect this man had on all of us. He will be missed beyond what words can say:( .

My condolences to Nowel's family. Like many others, I never met the man. But for the last few years I've been reading the TDR, I always clicked on a thread when I saw his name on it. The subject may not of even been something useful at first glance to me, but I knew if HVAC was involved it would be an interesting read.

Thanks for being an inspiration HVAC.

We'll all miss you Nowel

Nowel invited me to my very first meeting of the San Jose RamRunner's. At that meeting, I brought my brand new 'just received the day before' ETH truck. It was the very first HO within the club. When I popped the hood, his eyes just lit up as I could tell that he was already re-laying out the engine compartment in his mind!

Nowel had the patience to talk hours with the beginners as well as the technical knowledge to stumble the experts. You will be missed my friend, but your memory lives on.

Bye my friend!

Nowel pushed to have me create the DHRA. He was a great asset and our biggest cheerleader as he put it. He helped us pay for the graphic artist fees to create the DHRA logo. When we offered to pay him back he said he just wanted a lifetime membership. Well, he was our first lifetime member, and now I guess he is setting up a few grudge match races between the apostles.

He always exemplified what every promoter needs in support, he was a tremendous crew chief, racer, and friend. To keep his memory living for as long as I can, Neal and I at the DHRA have decided to award those that stand out in our racing series with the Nowel Thomas Award in his honor. This award will be a most valuable racer award given to an individual in each division starting at the conclusion of the 2004 season.

Nowel, I miss you my friend.

I met Nowel 5 years ago like David Dressler said Nowel would spend as much time as I needed on the phone answering what I am sure was some of the same questions he had heard over and over again. My last fond memory of Nowel was sitting behind my truck at May Madness 2001 just bsing and him making me laugh so hard I almost lost it. See you soon my friend.
