I've edited some parts:

I've done some searching and I'm not quite sure exactly where my problem is just yet.

I do not have any rattling, or blocking of air flow. it's purely directional. sometimes.

Currently here is what works and what doesn't:

Hot/cold on any settings works as expected.

Recirculate on dash and foot: mostly dash, slight air from foot and defrost.

Recirculate on dash: works as expected.

Both of these are recirculating as the viscosity is faster.

Dash: all dash, only dash as expected.

Dash and foot: half dash , 40% defrost, 10% foot

Foot: 50% defrost, 50% foot

defrost and foot:" 50% defrost, 50% foot (as expected)

defrost, 50% defrost, 50% foot

The mode door actuators are reversible, 12-volt direct current (DC) servo motors. The heating-A/C systems on this vehicle use two mode door actuators. One for the panel/floor-air door and one for the defrost-air door.

Both the defrost door actuator (1) and the panel/floor door actuator (2) and the are located on the driver side end of the HVAC housing (3), close to the dash panel.

All actuators (1) are interchangeable with each other. Each actuator is contained within an identical black molded plastic housing with an integral wire connector receptacle (2). Each actuator also has an identical output shaft with splines (3) that connects it to its respective door linkage and three integral mounting tabs (4) that allow the actuator to be secured to the HVAC housing. The mode door actuators do not require mechanical indexing to the mode-air doors, as they are electronically calibrated by the A/C-heater control.

It all depends on what has failed. The servos can be changed with out removing the housing from the truck. If certain doors have broken the housing will need to come out. It sounds like a mode door issue but I have seen it both ways-only a servo or stripped gear that is only serviced in the assy.

I can deal with the coolant. infact, I'll have to change it due to a going head gasket ( to ensure no combustion grit isn't in the coolant once the gasket is swaped out. Even tho I just did the 100,000 mile change 5K miles ago (argh!)

However, is there an easy do-it-your-self deal to capture the A/C stuff? that's my only hold up to not take it to the dealer to spend a crap load for this.

Jason,

Did you find out what the problem was?? I think I might have a similar issue and was wondering/hoping it is a servo motor.

not yet.

I was pondering of doing it this friday, however, the head gasket, studs injector fixes is just to much to do in one day while 3 horus away from home. And I'd have to rely on a local guy there to hold on to my A/C stuff while I took the truck to get it worked on ya know.

I'll work on it later next month.
