In a few weeks I will be doing alot of upgrades, all of the transmission work is scheduled to be done here in a few days, 91% Converter, Race Valve Body, and the update kit, all from DTT. Gauges, custom fuel system, and new injectors are scheduled for two weeks. I want to go with the Bully Dog step 4's, but I know my factory Turbo can't handle it. I can't afford the B-1, or twins yet. I'm looking at both the HX-35, or the HX-40. Any suggestions, or comments? I appreciate your help.

It sounds as if you are fairly serious about this BOMBing thing :D

I would think that an HX40 would be better for what you plan. Although there have been problems with the 40 breaking if you are hard on it.

I would check out the Piers HX40 superturbo and then maybe talk to Kwikurt about his HX40's.

I've been running my HX40 for over a year now, zero problems. It was purchased and installed by the guys at Auto Wurks Diesel http://www.autowurksdiesel.com/ . I was initially using BD step 3 injectors, I swaped out for the BD 5's last summer. All is well. Give them a call and ask for Mike.

You had better re think the stage 4 injectors until after you get a MUCH larger turbo. Be real up front with Bill K on your power wants & how much low end smoke you will put up with. Diesel Dynamics would use an HX-40 , but I don't know what piers would say, although piers does like to stay with the 14cm exhaust housing on the autos. Have you considered a pulse manifold while you are at it? & maybe a membership to a tire club:D

HX 40---whether it's stock, a PDR, DD or KwikKurt's you should get one-----mine was trouble free also for a year and I would expect it to last quite awhile longer 'cept it got replaced with the B1-----chris

I have a new turbo that is Under R&D and is performing Very Well..... It has a similar Large Compressor like the B-1 Bomber Turbo with a smaller and lighter Turbine wheel than the B-1. It outperforms the HX40 by a large margin and I also expect it to be much more durable and Trouble free. One other great aspect is the 4in ID outlet of the Turbine housing. It will be available with a Single or Dual wastegated Turbine housing. Although Like the B-1 Most of us will not need the wastegate enabled.

We developed this model from what we learned from the Performance of the B-1.

I expect it to be a favorite for the Tight Automatics and the high altitude trucks. I don't have all the numbers yet but it spools FAST and will give large EGT drops. (But Probably not as much as the B-1). It is not as HD as the B-1 and until more Durability testing is done I don't suggest it for the Extreme HP trucks.

Last but not least it will sell for less than the B-1. :)
