I seem to keep reading that the third gen trucks aren't able to spool the hx-40 and ht3b set up as well as the older models. Is this really true? Is there some set up that would work better? Is there a way to make it spool and not make a lot of smoke? I had been looking for a hx-40 and now I am starting to reconsider. Help

Perhaps do a search for twins, piers twins, kendrick twins, bd twins, etc and I'm sure you'll find all too much info. Your question may have been answered before. I'd answer, but this is beyond my field of knowledge

I haven't had too much problem spooling my HX40/HT3B combo. The TST alone is a little soggy on the bottom end but, throw the Bully Dog downloader on there and spool up issues become no problem at all.

I can tell ya that I drove Piers truck, right before MM last year ['05] and was VERY impressed... I have never driven a rig set up to run as well as his. . his is a test bed so I'm sure there have been many changes since then. . however the 40/3B set was in when I drove. . all I can say is it was the BEST ride I have ever driven in a diesel rig.

at high elevation, the 40-16 ht3b-26 was hard to spool with just fueling boxes alone, after the injectors they spool faster than a stock fueled stock turbo with injectors only, inj and tst on 4x2, watch out cause you probably just ran somebody over, i am around 6000ft and they spool right away, 10-60+ psi in an instant and only 1100 deg egt :D
