I installed the hx 40 on my truck last night. I had to make a flange adapter for the exhaust manifold and make a 4" down pipe, a little welding and cutting on the boost tubes. It looks good I will post a pic later.

My question is the oil supply line to the top of the turbo is a different size (its smaller). Are these fittings metric or standard. I hope to fire the truck tonight, The list of mods: PODS, 60lb springs, valve adjust, pump tweaks, piston pump and the hx-40 18cm. . What do you think she will do?

Ill take it easy. The oil inlet size is 12 X 1. 5.

When I took the truck apart there was some fuel in the oil. Do you think it was an injector. I removed the injectors and the tips of five of them were carboned up, and one was like new.

Did you take the adaptor off the old turbo?

For fuel in oil, I'd suspect either the lift pump diaphragm or the front seal of the injector pump.

the stock turbo had a larger thread for the oil supply. The lift pump is new. My luck its the injection pump... .

I will get her running and keep a close eye on the oil. I have a spare pump I can rebuild.

DP come on now, we covered this before, the early nonIC'd trucks h1c's didn't use a oil feed adaptor fitting. The oil feed line threads directly into the charger. You can use the adaptor from an IC'd h1c or hx35 charger.

The new setup might be a little laggy. A 40 with 18 housing is typically known as the lag pig. Keep an eye out for a 16 housing for the 40. It will bolt up to your stock manifold as well as spool a little easier than the t4 18 housing.

Sorry, Bill, I forgot.

mykal41- you can look up the part number for the adaptor I mentioned. Got one from CaseIH for Mom's pickup several years ago for about $8.

Thanks for all your help guys. Found out that the fuel in oil was due to the wrong lift pump. I pushed the front seal out of the injection pump. I ordered the seal kit, some AN fittings, ss braided line and the aeromotive regulator from jegs.

As soon as the parts get here I will get this together.

On a side note my number one injector return line leaks, the copper washer that is there, is that a stock piece or do the PODs require a special one. Ha anyone made their own return system.

Could you give some more detail about this? How was it wrong? Too much supply pressure? Intended for gas not diesel?

Jay

I swapt out the lift pump for the piston style. But I got the higher pressure piston pump. A few days later I notice fuel in the oil. I had a bad bearing in the turbo. So I decieded to do all this work. After playing around I pulled the engine to do some painting.

The fuel is comming out the front seal of the pump and draining into the oil pan... I read up on some posts and came to the conclusion that the pressure with the age of the pump lead to the leak.

PDR has some housings listed. is a 14cm available. Its not clear the housing applications. I made a sweet adapter t-3 to t-4 that I wont need anymore. My parts from jegs should be here in the morning.
