Got my HX-40 on Friday. While checking it out Friday night I had a sneaky hunch that it was not clocked properly! Yes, I was right! Saturday morning while getting ready to install it I had to clock it properly.

Majestic assured me that it would be clocked and ready to install. Majestic is really having it's problems; turbos breaking and then not doing what the say they are going to do.

Then after that the downpipe from DD wasn't bent properly. You can see the details here;

Sorry to hear that. The good news is that the clocking is very easy. As far as Majestic, waaaay too many complaints... everything from broken turbos to pricing issues. Anyhow, hope you like your 40. Got mine untouched from Holset and absolutely love it. Good luck.

Hey Bob, sorry to hear about your installation challenges but looks like you've got 'em tackled. So how does White Obsession run now??

Did Majestic set up the wastegate for you? If so, at what pressure?? Also do you know what prepping they did to the turbo? For the price you were telling me the other day they would be hard to beat for a new prepped HX40.

Looking forward to Dyno weekend!!!

Vaughn

Big Bob's truck is really coming along quickly. I hope to see at on the dyno in abbotsford.

Hey Bob will you be selling your HX35 ?

Thanks,
Bob

I have the HY35 #ad

Vaughn,

After hearing all the problem Majestic was having with the HX-40 after prepping, I chose to just get a stock HX-40 with a wastegate and no modifications. I get my South Bend clutch in tomorrow, then I will be able to give you a report on performance. I know I did hit 40# of boost last night but wasn't really keeping my eye on it. Was more concerned about the EGT's. Still over 1500 in the Hot #3. Might have to have the PE reprogramed.

However, I did get to play a little last night, had a Ram 4X4 short box (that was deck out with stack and really looked good) pull up real fast next to me on the freeway. Didn't take a rocket scientist to know he wanted to play. Off we went, clutch slipping, I had to feather the throttle to try and keep if from slipping. (Kathy, my Sweetheart was peeing her pants) He didn't learn very fast, so I backed the PE down to #1 and off we went again! The clutch held a little better and I really smoked him. I slowed down and he drove up next to me with thumbs up. I followed him off at the next exit and we talked for about 20 minutes. The first thing he says to me is "What the he** have you done to your truck? I've never had anyone pull me like that!" He might come to Dyno Days. Of course I had to tell him about TDR.

Bob Wagner,

I haven't made up my mine if I'm going to sell the HX35 yet or not. I do have the 4" downpipe for it also. I don't know why I sould keep it, but haven't given it much thought. Email me and we'll talk.

what is an "HX-40"?? Is it a bigger turbo? whats on a stock 99 24v?

HossDiesel,

Your 99 has the same turbo I just took off, a HX-35. The HX-40 is a larger turbo, meaning it will flow more air and produce more boost, resulting in lower EGTs and more power (somewhere aroung 25HP). My main purpose was to try and get my EGTs undercontrol. I'm still peaking out above 1500 degrees.

You won't need this type of turbo until you get larger injectors (BDIIIs of DDIIIs) and a fueling box (Power Edge, Blue Box, Power Max etc. ).

BOB,

Your temps are still to high because your not running enough boost. Reajust your wastegate. You need 45+ psi to help control those egt,s.

Hey Bob, good job of showin' em who's boss #ad
Great story. I may need a tow strap to keep up with you guys next week #ad

Won't the HX40 blowup over 40 PSI?

I had a porsche 944 turbo pull up beside me and decide that he wanted to go... ... so we went. And at the next stoplight he shook his head and said, "I give up!" It was a great night, and my girlfriend loved it!

Eric

On the undervalved site Piers said he blew his last one up at 40 PSI?

I talked with Kevin at Majestic today. He is going to send me a check to pay for the clocking of the HX-40 I got from them.

Thank you Kevin for standing behind your word and good customer service.

Csutton7,
I hope that Kevin honors your turbo. It appeared to me that he is trying to do the right thing.

Briar,
Sorry you were not able to get all your out of pocket $ back. However I am glad Majestic is trying to make things right.
