Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) HX and HY-35 turbo question

I keep reading about HX and HY-35 turbos - what's the actual difference between them in terms of actual construction and performance?

I believe that the exhaust opening is the difference.

I think the compressior housing is a tad bit smaller also, but my notes arn't in front of me at the moment either.

The HY has a smaller compressor housing/wheel, and a 9cm2 turbine housing. The turbine housing is held on with a band clamp instead of bolted like the HX-35 housing.

From the above, I would assume the HX version will spool up slightly slower than the HY - but likely has more CFM capacity - and I think that is the one installed on the later HO cummins like mine? I'm not sure I've seen any markings on mine, and I haven't gotten down close enough to read the label. With the Comp on my truck, it seems to provide a bit more than 32 psi under load...

ETH's all got HX35's. May have a 10cm2 or 12cm2 housing.

Are there any easy to see external markings to identify a 10 or 12 cm housing?

Seems to me that the HY has a single entry as comparted to the HX which has a dual entry. The HY should be a quicker charger which is going to help the bottom end on the auto transmission trucks.
