Hey guy's i did a lobor trade for some transmission work in exchange for a holset 60mm compresser up grade for my stock hx35. it was brand new new from gillett diesel, well i had another hx35 so i machined the housing in it & put er together & just slipped it rite into my exhaust housing (since there the same 12cm) & went for a drive..... WOW it always lit fast & ran hard before but it seems to lite even quicker & pulls harder for dam sure! My qustion's are 1. I was told there is no need to have the assembly ballenced becouse there ballenced sepretly is this true? 2. why with only the comp wheel size changed did my boost change from 30-32 to 35-38+with no added fuel?(fyi i did reset the wg down to 35 psi & it did drop the egt's apx. 175-200) . Love the way it run's just dont wanna grenade the turbo. I no the converter wont lik this long but its ok i plan to o/h the transmission here in the next month after the hoilday's. Also if driving it normaly is there any ill affects on fuel milage? (spelling suck's i no) thank's guy's :)

ok cool,im just tryen to make sure i keep hearing both side's gillett diesel say's no need too(where it was bought from). i was hopen to find some one who has done the same thing & had it eather go or blow if you no what i mean. Thank you bob4x4!

I did that mod several years ago on my '97. You are correct, the wheel and exhaust side are balanced separate from the factory and you don't HAVE to balance the assembly. I didn't balance mine and never had a problem.

Thank you bob V! thats what i was looken for i new guy's have done this mod before. Im very happy with mine maybe its how mt plate/AFC/ tunning is dailed in but has plenty of POWER & burn's pretty clean ta boot! Thank's again for the reply's :D

I had a 60mm hx35 for a while... LOVED that turbo. My truck was the most fun to drive ever when I had that setup.

If you get the opportunity to score a 14cm wastegated housing for a good deal, put that on it. I loved the 35/40-14cm wg setup on my 98. Spooled quick, added some top end (nothing crazy) and towed like a dream. I also got my best mileage numbers ever with that turbo.

Ive heard both "yes you have to balance" and "no you dont"... balancing isnt super expensive so its cheap-ish insurance. On the other hand, I know tons of people who have run them unbalanced and had absolutely no problems. To be honest, the only one Ive seen blown up was mine, which was balanced haha. But mine was a bit (sarcastic) overfueled... that turbo laid down 546hp on the dyno one time.

Enjoy!
