Hey guys, i found a good lead on an HX35 from a 99. I was wondering what the housing sizes were on this and if it is a relativly bolt on swap. What would i have to do?? THanks

There should seriously be a sticky thready concerning this very topic.

ONCE A WEEK this question comes up. Wee need a turbo section or something to that effect.

No. You simply cannot bolt it on. There will have to be slight modifications. However, the phrase "slight modification" is entirely SUBJECTIVE. If you have a one car garage and only a set of vice grips, it's going to be quite difficult.

If you can modify your down pipe and swap out turbine housings easily and know some basics about turbos, you can perform said modifications quite easily.

Make sure its a hx35 and not a hy35. From what I understand, the hx35 comes on manual trans 2nd gens, the hy35 on auto trans 2nd gens. Should be a 12cm wastegated housing. You should just remove the 12cm housing and bolt up your 18, 16cm housing, then it would be an easy bolt up.

GL rest and relaxation you need ;) .

hx35w install questions/ downpipe

Thanks Guys,

I've read all the threads i could and the info im getting is that everything will pretty much bolt up if i use a 16 or larger exaust housing. Im probally going to use the 12cm that comes with the hx35, so i need to shorten my downpipe?? I have a 2 inch body lift, so maybe i could make it fit. Or would it be best to use the stock downpipe that came with the turbo, or is there a good aftermarket source for a downpipe, since i need to fabricate an exauset system anyways a new dp sould surly be an option. I have a good size shop and almost every tool know to man, so im willing to fabricate somthing, i just need to know what!! Thanks guys

If you make a new dp, you'll want 3. 5 inch pipe or possibly 4". I use Nelso exhaust parts and do have the part numbers of the pipe that is required to weld up a down pipe in either three of four inch.

Basically you'll need a flange. (You can use the OEM flange from the original dp) And you'll need a reducer. The reducer will convert from the 3 inch to the 4 inch. yes. It's called a REDUCER.

You'll have to weld in a 15° short coupling to clear the frame unless it's not an auto which then you may not have to.

The first hanger (at the bell housing) will have to be slightly modified to adapt to the larger pipe.
