 I have a 99 ram 3500 5sp with an k&n intake, edge ez stacked on quadzilla 120hp xzillaraider, 75 hp sticks and 4 inch straitpipe. Am i going to toast my stock turbo (what is the best turbo upgrade i can make for the money. )

yes,I'm surprised you haven't yet:confused: . Check into the htt turbos or if you have the extra money industrial injection. Just depends on how much more power you're wanting to add... . wait... . no one really wants to add more it just happens:-laf

You definately have a limited life expectancy on that turbo... . upgrade soon. I recommend a SS62 from HT... . supports 550hp easy.

I thought the HX35 was pretty durable. Am I at risk? Should I be looking for a new turbo? I am pretty content with it. If so, how do you know what to look for. Everybody always says their turbo is best.

I still use my stocker... . but it is getting changed here pretty soon. You see what I put down and what I have in my sig.

Your HX35 is very durable, if your satisfied with it then I would continue to run it. It like all turbos has it limits(about 42psi) and if you keep it within them you'll be fine. Can you make more power with a different turbo? Sure, on our delivery truck(ez & 275's) picked up about 30hp just changing to a Dodgezilla

turbo. You would see a increase of horsepower by changing to one of the flavor of the month S300's for sure. As far as everyones turbo being the best I would agree with that.

Hope this helps

Overfueling builds EGT's and EGT's are bad for everything including the turbo. Overboosting just builds excess cylinder pressure and is essentially backpressure to flowing gases in and out of the combustion chamber.

If you drive by the pedal keeping an eye on EGT's (~1300Fmax preturbo) and Boost (~35lb max), you should be able to get a lot of long life out of the HX. It is extremely durable.

That being said, bigger turbo makes everyone's life soooo much better. Of course I am a cash-strapped hypocrite because I am saving ever so slowly my pennies for an SPS62 or an HTT 62/14... .

The point is if you can't afford an aftermarket turbo, you can get lots of BOMB'd fun out of the HX35 if you are prudent with it.

My guess is you will have to tow with the Xzillaraider off. With just the injectors you will be pushing EGT quite a bit. But if you can live with that restraint the HX35 IMO is a pretty good towing turbo.

I've been trying to figure out all this turbo stuff also. Is the Dodgezilla a modified HX35 like the PDR HX35? How do they compare?

It seems the S300-based turbos are the hot item right now but how do they compare to the other two?

Also are the S300 turbos able to change exhaust housing sizes like the Hx series or are they what they are?

its a hx 40 compressor and a hx 35 exhaust. There is a dodgezilla 40 which is a an hx 40 variant and a dodgezilla hybrid 35/40 described above. S300's are widely used. The shafts on them seem to be more durable and a little bigger. I dont know a whole about the dodgezilla, but I bet the turbo guru's will chime in. Yes, the S300's can change housings as well.
