HX35W application question

I was thinking of purchasing a new turbo but I just want to make sure I get the right one as I understand the HX35w will bolt right up to my first gen and I have the choice of purchasing one with the down pipe or one without. Which one should I buy? the one that has the turn down built in or the one that doesn't?? If I buy the one without the downpipe this is just a straight install correct??

Thanks to all

Dan

The HX35 will bolt in without a problem. If the down pipe you are talking about is the 45 degree cast turn down that will have to come off to fit your existing exhaust. It should clamp to the hot side housing the same way the existing down pipe does. If you retain the turn down you will have to go to the gen 2 flanged down pipe to connect to exhaust system. If you do that then you will be able to use a 4" down pipe. Initial measurements indicate it should fit but until I do it am not sure if the gen 2 down pipe will have to be modified.

so will this turbo make that big of a difference?? I have a one year old H1C w/ 12cm housing. Also will the smaller housing fit on the 35? Thanks for the response

Dan

The HIC and the HX35 will bolt in for each other given that they have similar exhaust housings. . both wastegated or both not.

The exh. housings will interchange.

a HUGE difference.

I put a 12 non wastegated housing on my 1st gen then a set of 40hp injectors.

It spools like a 2nd gen and makes 24psi of boost vs 11 before.

I drive a gear higher in town because the turbo will actually make boost before 2k rpm.

It's pretty fun to drive now, and a little hard on tires ;) :D

wow i can get a total of 28 psi now whith out the 35 wunder what I can get with it? I didn't think I had done a bunch of mods but I guess I have a little more power then I thought. I think I will buy it.

Thanks To all

don't want to sound paranoid but if I were to buy something from the classified section on this site what should I look out for or are most guys that sell here stand up guys. Could a mod respond to let me know what recourse I would have if unit wan't as stated?

Thanks

Dan

If your making smoke now you will see a performance increase but if your engine is setup efficiently you won't see much of a power increase. What it gives you is the ability to flow more air when you turn the fuel up. I went from a H1C 21cm to HX35 16cm and seat of the pants doesn't indicate a power increase but it pulls hard from the hit of the throttle to governor limit. I am at stock settings trying to base line things so it may make a large difference when I start pushing fuel to it but it does not feel like more power just a wider power band.

From what I,ve tried if you use the same exhaust housing on either an hx-35 or the stock h1c there won't be much difference in boost or power; maybe 2 more psi with an hx-35.
